WALK FOR HOPE
October 11, 2009

September 23, 2008
Dear NCPF Friends and Colleagues:

This October 11th marks the 21st Anniversary of the Walk for Hope and the 1st Annual 10K Run For Hope. The NC Psychoanalytic Foundation is once again fielding a team. We hope you will join Team NCPF (team code: NCPF) and help support research into the causes and treatment of mental illness.
WFH09During the last 21 years, the Foundation of Hope has used proceeds from the Walk for Hope to fund research and treatment for individuals with mental illness, donating more than $2 million to mental illness research and treatment locally, which was used to leverage additional funding of close to $100 million in federal grants.

The Walk for Hope is a big success because of the hard work of thousands of volunteers, walkers and donors. The NCPF is honored to have played a part in this success. Last year, the NCPF Team of 8 walkers raised more than $1,300 of the $450,000 total, disseminated information on psychoanalytic psychotherapy services and programs to hundreds of participants. Thank you to everyone -- walkers and donors -- who made our contribution outstanding!

The North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation (NCPF) is walking again this year and we ask you to help us make this years Walk for Hope the best ever by walking, donating to our team (enter Team NCPF under the Walker Code), or staffing our information table after the Walk.  Due to a generous donation, this year our team will be outfitted with vests noting the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation supports the Foundation for Hope.

WFH closeup walkersIf you wish to contribute or to participate, please go to the Foundation of Hope website: www.walkforhope.com, or mail your contribution to: The Foundation of Hope, 9401 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27617.  If you'd like to walk as a member of Team NCPF, you can do so entering NCPF as the team code when you register. Contributions to our team, the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation, can be made at any time during the year. Any contribution is welcome!

If you have never participated in the Walk for Hope, please consider doing so, now.  The Walk is always a lot of fun with good food, music, a raffle, ice cream, and the chance to meet and discuss mental health issues with many individuals with many points of view.  I am always encouraged and energized after I attend the Walk for Hope.  I hope to see you there!
Please call or email me with questions or to volunteer, at 919.832.4599/ returned54@yahoo.com or call the NC Psychoanalytic Foundation office at 919.847-2323.  Thank you for your ongoing support of the Walk for Hope, and for all you do to help individuals with mental illness lead whole lives.

Sincerely,
Lois Cavanagh-Daley
