Two essential aids are available to help with this at www.thenationalcoalition.org 1) a petition for privacy and 2) a White Paper on the Essentials of Mental Health Treatment.This white paper is available in HTML format where it can be shared on social networking sites. |

All day Annual Symposium: Lessons from therapeutic schools about helping adopted children

Presented by: The North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society and the Alliance for Psychoanalytic Schools, and hosted by the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood
Description:Over the course of the symposium weekend, mental health and early childhood experts will discuss various ways that adoption can impact early emotional development and the challenges adopted children may face at home and in the classroom. Drawing upon a wide range of expertise and backgrounds, clinicians with psychoanalytic perspectives and therapeutic teachers will share their experiences working with young adopted children and present ways of understanding and helping these children to achieve social and emotional mastery in a variety of settings and contexts.

NAMI Family to Family EDUCATION PROGRAM
for family members of close relatives with
Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression),
Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder,Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or Borderline Personality Disorder
A series of 12 weekly classes taught by trained NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) members who have lived with this experience and offers education and support for family and friends of people with mental illness. Registration required. Each class limited to 25 persons. Program sponsored by NAMI-NC.

The North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society kicks off its new 2009-2010 MindPlay season at PlayMakers Repertory Theater (Chapel Hill, NC) with Michael Hollinger's OPUS: "Sex, drugs and chamber music!" Heather Craige, MSW will lead the discussion following both the October 10th show at 8pm and the October 11th show at 2pm.
 About Opus: Talent and temperament collide in a behind-the-scenes look at the world's finest 'fictional' string quartet. The famous ensemble threatens to unravel when its most talented member goes missing and a young woman is hired to take his place. Includes collaboration with UNC's Department of Music.
