We were fortunate to have in our presence two world class experts, Dr. George Vaillant & Dr. Dan Ariely, who discussed predictably irrational behavior and positive emotions as they are related to money. A timely topic during these challenging economic times.

Band Together NC for the Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood
Band Together
Saturday, June 6th
6pm-11pm
 
We are excited to announce that the Lucy Daniels Center has been selected as this year's sole recipient of all proceeds for the "Band Together" out-door concert that will be held on June 6, 2009. Rusted Root, The Rosebuds, Chatham County Line, and Hobex will be headlining for this year's event. Band Together is expecting more than 1,500 people to rock it out at this concert in downtown Raleigh. Cabarrus Street will be closed off for this Lincoln Theatre outdoor festival-style event.

Tickets: Tickets are only $20 in advance ($25 at the door).  VIP tickets are also available that include dinner, drinks, and
access to a special area for $125. You can buy tickets online.

Band Together's goal is to raise $75,000 for Lucy Daniels Center - so important in this particular year of economic stress.  Won't you consider helping?  You can come to the event, and bring friends.  It is great fun for a great cause.  Also, there are all sorts of volunteer activities that are needed now or on the day of the event.

present three special films on Alzheimer's disease, followed by panel discussion

- highlights the sacrifices and successes of people who experience their loved one's descent into dementia
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 "Grandpa, Do you know who I am?"  (geared for children and families)
- with Maria Shriver; captures what it means to be a child or grandchild of one with Alzheimer's

Description: Music is perhaps the most global language of all. For this event, the Lucy Daniels Foundation will collaborate with the UNC-CH Global South Working Group and the Brussels Chamber Orchestra to create an experience which blends a globalization message, a folk music performance, a classical music open rehearsal, and creative freedom in a way that incorporates the contributions of the audience so that all are able to identify the interplay between "far away and deep within."
