University of Washington School of Nursing-Partnerships in Community Health NCLIN 409 - Seattle, WA February 24, 2010
The University of Washington's School of Nursing provided another opportunity for Delilah Bruskas to speak about her community work as an advocate for those in and from foster care. Her presentation to the Bachelors of Science in Nursing students (seniors) focused on issues important to those from foster care; she also explained how she is using both her experiences in foster care and nursing to positively influence policy and practice. There were many questions following the presentation and the nursing students showed great interest in issues related to foster care policy and practice. The American Nurses Association (2003) nursing definition was presented to reinforce the advocacy work for those in and from foster care and its emphasis to improve health outcomes.
