Dear Friend of the Community Center,
Happy New Year! Now that the Holidays are over it's time to get on with 2011.
This is my first newsletter as Executive Director and I want to thank everyone for their wonderful warmth and hospitality as I settled into my new home here in central PA. November and December were a whirlwind of meeting people, listening, strategizing, planning, and getting the word out that the LGBT Center is poised to achieve great things this year. Some may ask, "What is an LGBT Community Center anyway?" There is no simple one-size-fits-all answer. A healthy, vibrant community center is one that leads the way in education and outreach, provides support, gives guidance and fosters leadership. It builds alliances, provides opportunities for socializing and networking, and is resilient. It enriches lives and it saves lives through a thoughtful array of programming that make it relevant and worthwhile.
As we start the new year, I encourage each of you to get involved. Participate. Volunteer. Speak up and Show up. Contribute. We will be rolling out an array of new programs and services that will span the entire region so stay tuned for details. I am here and fully dedicated to our collective future with regards to rights, jobs, dignity, safety, education, and opportunity. Have no doubt, however, that the thing that will make your Community Center truly unique and special is YOU.
Sincerely,
 Executive Director
