Out in the Silence returns to York
|
Many high school student groups were unable to attend our Annual GSA Leadership Summit in February because of snow, so we're holding a "mini-Summit" on Thursday, May 27th. This event is sponsored by the York City Human Relations Commission and the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center.
During the day, students will network, attend workshops, and watch the film Out in the Silence. Producers Joe Wilson and Dean Hamer will be on hand to lead a discussion about the film and what student leaders can do to make their schools safe spaces for LGBTQ youth. The community is invited to join the conversation in the evening, as the film will be screened and discussed again starting at 7 pm at the Strand-Capitol. Admission is $5, or FREE for students with ID. Admission fees support the LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central Pennsylvania and Planned Parenthood of Central Pennsylvania, which operate the local LGBT youth programs Common Roads and THE CURVE, respectively.
