5 New Year's Resolutions
For a Better You!
Greetings!
1. Spend more time with family and friends: Quality Spending time with your kids and family is a good way to deal with financial stress, according to a new study. Martha Wadsworth, associate professor of psychology at the University of Denver (DU), insists that a family should spend more time together in order to remain happy.
2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that it reduces the risk of some cancers, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and even improves arthritis.
3. Eat Healthy: Eating healthy can make all the difference for your health and wellness!
Here is a list of some of Dr. Conde's
favorite brain foods:
Spinach or Kale
Broccoli
Beans
Fresh water fish (salmon, cod, mackerel, etc)
Whole grain bread oats
Sweet potato
Decaffeinated green tea
Blueberries
4. Quit Smoking: Even if you've tried to quit before and failed, don't let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good. Start enjoying the rest of your smoke-free life!
5. Enjoy Life More: Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of Americans, it is no wonder that "enjoying life more" has become a popular resolution in recent years. It's an important step to a happier and healthier you! Take up a new hobby or go see a movie with friends. Go ahead and spoil yourself with a relaxing massage at The Conde Center!

Sciatica... Exploring Cutting Edge Treatments and Addressing Misconceptions
A shocking 80 % of all Americans will experience low back pain at some point in their life. Its epidemic status continues to grow and sufferers seek the most cutting edge approaches to not only ensuring relief but also restoring function. Quite often individuals may also develop associated thigh or lower leg pain termed sciatica. The clinical term sciatica requires clarification. Sciatica simply means "pain in the leg". It does not mean that the sciatic nerve has been "pinched". In fact, the sciatic nerve is not involved in most cases of thigh or gluteal pain because it does not supply sensation from this area.

Question of the Month
What is brain-based rehabilitation?
With brain-based rehabilitation the chiropractic neurologist will not only manually treat the area in question itself with physical medicine but will also "exercise" the deficient region of the brain to normalize function.
Since the brain is plastic, with appropriate treatment it can attain optimum wellness. Treatments may entail specific types of eye movement exercises (known as "oculomotor rehabilitation"), balancing activities, oxygen supplementation, rotary activation (chair spins), eccentric fast stretching, cross cord mechanisms, therapeutic use of light, therapeutic use of sound, therapeutic use of smell, and physical activities using one side of the body.
