PLAYHOUSES FOR TOTS
| |
On Friday, October 10th, Butler County United Way was able to help 6 local families with small children receive a precious gift!
The Nuhop Center coordinated a philanthropic team project for employees of Eli-Lilly at the Hueston Woods Lodge. The project provides a teambuilding session for employees, and the end results were finished playhouses for children. The Nuhop Center then looked to connect with a local United Way to find children who would benefit from having such a lovely playhouse. The Center worked with us to identify the children and learn a little bit about them so the team members could personalize the playhouses.
Butler County United Way contacted Hamilton Living Water Ministry to identify 6 such young children, and on Friday afternoon, volunteers drove trailers to Hueston Woods to pick up the newly finished playhouses. The volunteers were so blessed by the time and attention the company employees put into making their playhouses for the children. Each house was personalized with items and cartoon characters the child loved. After the playhouses were all loaded up on the trailers, our volunteers went to the six homes and personally delivered the playhouses to the children.
The squeals of laughter and huge smiles were the only rewards needed - to know that for these children, this effort was making a difference in their lives. Thank you to Eli-Lilly employees, The Nuhop Center and our Butler County United Way volunteers from Belfor USA, GE and Cornerstone Church for making this blessing happen in the lives of our children.

Domestic Violence Month
|
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Butler County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council held a presentation at the Butler County Government Services Center. The presentation included Assistant Prosecutor Lance Salyers, awards, and a Remembrance Walk in honor of victim/survivors and their children. The walk began at Government Services Center and ended at Matandy Steel where purple balloons were released in remembrance and honor of victims/survivors and their children. The Butler County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council's mission is to ensure Butler County maintains a unified, coordinated community response against domestic violence by supporting, educating and monitoring the various components of the response team, including the civil and criminal justice systems, involved when domestic violence incidents occur so as to eradicate the violence. Partnering organizations consist of The Center for Family Solutions, Citizens Against Domestic Violence, and Middletown Domestic Violence Coalition. Butler County United Way is grateful for all who participated including staff of Matandy Steel and Rockwell Automation. |
