| Letter from the President | |
| | Vaden Fitton | When I was fortunate to be selected to lead the Butler County United Way, I knew I faced at least two related challenges. The first is to maintain and, in some cases establish strong relationships between United Way and our key community and business leaders. The second, which is in some ways, a consequence of the first, is to raise more money to support the programs that our volunteers have identified as offering the greatest likelihood of helping kids succeed and families thrive. Unless we, as an organization can accomplish the former, there is little chance we will ever accomplish the latter.
And so I was thrilled when about a hundred of our loyal donors came out to Symmes Tavern on the Green recently to help us celebrate 90 years of the Butler County United Way, and their own sustained support of an organization that really has as its only objective to improve the condition of children and families in our community. For me, it was a wonderful chance to spend time with people who share my passion for the aims and the work of United Way, people who recognize their civic responsibilities go beyond voting and paying, however begrudgingly, their taxes.
