NYIT Sends Record Numbers to Albany

 
NYIT students joined 700 peers from independent colleges and universities in New York state on Feb. 8 for the Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu) annual Student Lobby Day in Albany, N.Y. Participants attended 34 advocacy seminars and met with elected officials to discuss funding for financial aid programs such as Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Bundy Aid, and HEOP. This year marked NYIT's largest representation: NYIT-Manhattan sent 29 students and five staff members, while NYIT-Old Westbury sent 28 students and three staff members.

NYIT Expands Alumni, Employer Outreach in the Middle East

New York Institute of Technology has opened Offices of Career Services and Alumni Affairs at NYIT-Amman and NYIT-Bahrain, broadening relationships with alumni, community, and business partners in the Middle East. New associate directors of alumni and employer relations at these campuses are: Lina Mattar, who will head the office in NYIT-Amman, and alumna Amal Osama Al Dallal (B.S. '08, M.B.A. '10), who will lead the office in NYIT-Bahrain. Read more

Join Entrepreneur and Astronaut Greg Olsen at NYIT's Auditorium on Broadway

Scientist and multimillionaire Greg Olsen, Ph.D., will give a lecture,Greg_Olsen "From Entrepreneurship to Spaceship," on Wednesday, March 9, at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the lecture is 6 to 7 p.m. Olsen was the third private citizen to orbit the earth on the International Space Station. After training for five months (900 hours) at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Moscow, he spent 10 days in space, performing more than 150 orbits of the Earth. Paintings of the Cosmos and Stellar Visions by Edward Belbruno, Ph.D

NYIT alumni are cordially invited to attend The Art and Science of a Cosmic Visionary, a presentation by artist and mathematician Ed Belbruno, Ph.D., at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway on Thursday, March 31. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; lecture begins at 6 p.m. Following the lecture is an opening reception for his exhibition, Paintings of the Cosmos and Stellar Visions at NYIT's Gallery 61, on display through April 7.
 
Belbruno, president and founder of Innovative Orbital Design, holds patents on routes in space. He is the author of Fly Me to the Moon and Capture Dynamics and Chaotic Motions in Celestial Mechanics. A consultant with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, he has appeared on NBC's Today Show. His paintings have been exhibited in Paris, Rome, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., New York, Minneapolis; one of his works is in NASA's executive collection in Washington, D.C. NYIT and the Intrepid Museum Partner for Salute to Women
NYIT-Short Divider

NYIT and the Intrepid Museum have formed a partnership in celebration of the museum's first Salute to Women program during Women's History Month in March. Funds raised will provide resources for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), educational programming for girls, and programming at the Intrepid. Read more.
