PA Program Gets Government Grant to Grow
The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded NYIT's Department of Physician Assistant Studies a grant of more than $850,000, the largest grant ever awarded to the School of Health Professions. NYIT was one of only four colleges located in urban settings awarded a grant; the other 42 awardees are in rural settings. The five-year grant will support a national effort to increase the number of primary care physician assistants to supplement the dwindling number of primary care physicians. The project addresses the two overarching goals of the Healthy People 2010 government initiative: eliminating health disparities and increasing the quality and years of healthly lives. |
