World-Renowned Architect Visits NYIT
Architect and 2009 NYIT honorary degree recipient Richard Meier (pictured) presented his international projects to a sold-out crowd on March 11 at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway. The event was hosted by Judith DiMaio (above right), dean of the School of Architecture and Design, and Friends of the School of Architecture and Design, a group of NYIT alumni who are fostering relationships among NYIT and architecture, construction, and interior design firms. Among Meier's best-known projects are The Getty Center in Los Angeles, the Jubilee Church in Rome, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona.

Wine Dinner - A Taste of the Mediterranean

March Alumni Event Recap

North Carolina Alumni EventNYIT held a number of alumni events on the East Coast during March.
An Alumni Wine Tasting (pictured left) took place in Durham, N.C., on March 12. Alumnus Brian Silva (M.S. '89) was honored at the School of Management's Centers of Excellence Volunteer of the Year Reception at NYIT's de Seversky Center on March 18. NYIT President Edward Guiliano hosted an Alumni Brunch at the Ritz Carlton, Palm Beach in Manalapan, Fla., on Saturday, March 20.

Excellence by Design

Robotics ChampionshipNYIT students in the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences captured first place (winning all matches) in the "Clean Sweep" event of the regional Vex Robotics Competition held on Feb. 20-21 in Baltimore, Md. The students, who were selected to participate by NYIT's Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) chapter, designed, built, and programmed an innovative and autonomous remote-controlled robot that scored the highest number of points in the contest as well as taking home the best design award. The students say they hope their win will inspire fellow and future NYIT student engineers. Next stop: the Vex Robotics World Championship in Dallas, April 22-24.
