Grey's Anatomy
Did anyone see Grey's Anatomy Thursday night? I did and it was wonderful to see Izzy knitting a scarf as a way to relieve her anxiety and to thank someone for their thoughtfulness. Who can't relate to that!!!
*********************** Peggy sent me this article on women's friendships and thought I would be interested because knitting has offered her the opportunity to meet other women and men and to develop bonds through the vehicle of knitting. I think most of us would agree with the the importance of people helping others to remain mentally healthy and emotionally stable, but coupled with the art of knitting, crocheting, or spinning, we can develop friendships to live more healthy and productive lives. The UCLA study
suggests that "women respond to stress with a cascade of
brain chemicals that cause us to make and maintain friendships
with other women." women's friendships
****************************** Presenting the first finished "red coat" from Linda's class. Feedback coming back from the class was that is was fairly simple to do.
Jill is working on her lovely entrelac hat using Artyarns merino and is having such fun making it. Can't wait to see it on her head.
Sue made this sophisticated design using a personal pattern in Serendipity yarn from Brown Sheep
Signe knit this vest using Colourscape yarn from Kaffe Fassett. It is such a practical vest that you can wear with just about anything.
Sally is in the process of knitting the Quilted Scarf from the book Scarf Wrap. I don't know how many of you remember this wrap but it uses Kid Silk Haze from Rowan and we have this pattern with the yarn as a kit in the store.
Naomi knit a circle shrug from Glam Knits in Karabella Aurora 8. It is creatively designed and very interesting to knit and wear.
Front
Stephanie knit these baby booties using Debbie Bliss Prima. The pattern is in the book Simple Knits for Cherished Babies. These booties are so soft
and quick to make I have been told.
Connie and her infamous Colinette coat and hat. It is a unique coat with lots of texture and color.
However, it is not a weekend project.
Sonya knit this lovely sweater using Nature Cotton from Araucania. The pattern is from Pure & Simple and the color is magnificent.

Knit One North
Socks (either Magic Loop or 2 Circs)
Do you want to learn how to knit socks? In this class you will learn to knit basic, all-purpose, cuff-down socks using the magic loop technique (one circular needle) or two circulars. The choice is yours. It assumes that you have basic knitting skills. You should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, increase and decrease. You should also know the difference between right and wrong sides of your knit fabric. In the first class you will learn to cast-on and begin to knit the cuff of your sock--and you will receive instructions for knitting the heel flap. During the second class you will learn how to turn the heel, knit the gusset, and receive instructions for completing the toe of the sock. Materials required: Fingering weight sock yarn (400 yards+--approximately 100g for a pair of women's socks) Needles - one circular size 2 (but if you already have a size 1, it will work as well). The circular cable length should be at least 32" with a very flexible cable (something like an Addi Turbo, Addi Lace, Inox Express, etc.). This will not work with a circular needle that has a stiff cable, or two circular needles--both size 2 (but if you already have 1's, they will work as well.) Cable length does not matter, but it may be easier if they are two different lengths (e.g., a 16' and a 24').
Stitch Markers
Tapestry needle
Skill Level: Advanced beginner April 4 & 11 - 10 - noon
$50 for 2 two-hour sessions

Sample knitted in Rowan 4ply Soft.
$25 for two hour session
