Customer Appreciation Day - Saturday, January 10(SH), January 11 (North)
Please join us on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate Knit One's appreciation of you as our customer. We deeply appreciate your support of your local yarn store and would like to thank you by offering a free crochet class to anyone who would like to learn or develop a new skill. Linda and Dawne will be teaching and they are thrilled at the opportunity to open new pathways in creativity. In addition, we will be offering an opportunity to select a coupon for an in-store discount on all yarns you are purchasing. The coupon is selected at the time of check out and ranges from 10-50%. This has always been a lot of fun and enables you to receive some deep discounts on the yarns you have craved. And,
we are having a one day Sale of 20% off on all books and patterns on these days.
Of course we will have refreshments but most importantly, we at Knit One, want to thank you for your support. We all know about the economy and how volatile it has become. It is so wonderful to enjoy a craft like knitting or crocheting in such troubled times. I think to myself that for the cost of a dinner and a movie I could make a fabulous shawl which will entertain me a lot longer. I found this article on line about small businesses. If you have the time, I hope you will read it. small business
Hope to see you on the 10th and/or 11th !!
********************* Free Crochet Class A thank you to our customers!

Update on the Red Coat
We were thrilled at the response that we received from all of you regarding the Red Coat class and kit from Twist Collective. Unfortunately, we were not able to accomodate everyone in the class so we will be offering a second class in February (details to follow). However, for those of you who were only interested in the kit, we are placing another order from Briggs & Little, the yarn manufacturer from Canada, whose yarn was used by the designer to knit the coat. Let is know if you are interested. There are an array of colors to choose from if "the red" is not for you. And, we will be offering another class, too. Can't wait to photograph and share them with you in the newsletter.

Threads Blog

Knit One NorthSocks (either Magic Loop or 2 Circs)
Do you want to learn how to knit socks? In this class you will learn to knit basic, all-purpose, cuff-down socks using the magic loop technique (one circular needle) or two circulars. The choice is yours. It assumes that you have basic knitting skills. You should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, increase and decrease. You should also know the difference between right and wrong sides of your knit fabric. In the first class you will learn to cast-on and begin to knit the cuff of your sock--and you will receive instructions for knitting the heel flap. During the second class you will learn how to turn the heel, knit the gusset, and receive instructions for completing the toe of the sock.
Materials required:
Fingering weight sock yarn (400 yards+--approximately 100g for a pair of women's socks)
Needles - one circular size 2 (but if you already have a size 1, it will work as well). The circular
cable length should be at least 32" with a very flexible cable (something like an Addi Turbo,
Addi Lace, Inox Express, etc.). This will not work with a circular needle that has a stiff cable,
or two circular needles--both size 2 (but if you already have 1's, they will work as well.) Cable
length does not matter, but it may be easier if they are two different lengths (e.g., a 16' and a 24').
Stitch Markers
Tapestry needle
Skill Level: Advanced beginner $50 for 2 two-hour sessions Saturday, January 10 10-Noon Saturday, January 17 10-Noon
