Article- Regional Hazard Mitigation Planning
The New River Valley Planning District Commission has been working on a hazard mitigation plan for the region (including Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties and the City of Radford). They are in the final draft stage and wanted to reach out to you, the chamber membership.
The plan is available for all residents and interested parties to read and comment on before being sent to FEMA for approval.
View the draft at http://www.nrvpdc.org/HazardMitigation/2010DraftPlan.html. All sections have been completed and reviewed by VDEM. In the coming weeks they will be working to schedule public meetings prior to sending this to FEMA for final review. You can send any comments on the plan to cstraight@nrvpdc.org.
Once the document is back from FEMA, the NRVPDC will work with participating localities to schedule the plan adoption by elected officials.
