MEET
OUR ORPHAN
OF THE MONTH
"Rooster"
Hi! My name is Rooster !
I was found on a Good Samaritan's doorstep wrapped in a shirt all by myself. She didn't know what to do with me as I was just two weeks old when I was abandoned, so she brought me to the orphanage! I am 4 months old and weigh only 4 pounds, but will grow up to be about 10 pounds!
Rooster was bottle fed until he was big enough to eat big kitten food and is now just about big enough to be neutered and go home! Rooster is feisty and playful, and is absolutely hilarious to watch when he stands up tall on his hind legs waiting to pounce on the toy of the moment. He would happily integrate in a home with other cats, dogs, or anything that he could potentially turn into either a toy or playmate.
Come visit Rooster today!
As our Orphan of the Month for September, you can adopt Rooster at 20% off of the regular $135 adoption donation for felines.
Visit this orphan in person and complete your adoption application between now and October 7, 2012 to be able to take advantage of this great offer!
Visit us on-line or call 214-349-ELPO(3576) for more information on all our wonderful animals available for adoption!

Please... we need donations for a much needed Incubator.
Our feathered friends would appreciate any amount that you can give towards replacing the "no longer functioning" incubator in our hospital. Your donations are needed so we can continue to help in the rescue of these birds!
Just last year we were able to help in the rescue of over 1,200 wild birds. Unfortunately, our incubator has broken and a replacement will cost in excess of $1,200. If you can contribute funds or if you or someone you know has an incubator, please contact us today!

A Special Thanks !!
This group of young ladies and their dads are part of the YMCA's Adventure Guides program. Their circle is known as the Red Wolves. After visiting East Lake Veterinary Hospital and meeting several orphans, the Red Wolves voted to support ELPO as their community service project and raise funds to help the orphan pets. The Red Wolves raised money by having a garage sale, selling beverages, and other individual fund raising and presented a check to ELPO.
The girls pictures with their dads in left to right order are: Alexa, McElla, Madison, Savannah B., Kaitlyn, Delaney, Savannah C., Beth, Bridget, and Kylie
THANK YOU LADIES!

Baby found her way back home ! A little Yorkie, named Baby, escaped from her home and was on Easton trying to dodge the traffic. Bekki Harvey, an East Lake volunteer, was on her way to our Second Chance Treasures resale shop on Garland Road, when she saw Baby trying to avoid the cars. Bekki immediately pulled over and got out of her car. Baby came right to her, so she took her with her to work at Second Chance Treasures. Baby was immediately taken to East Lake Veterinary Hospital to see if she was microchipped so we could reunite her with her family. Baby was not chipped! Baby's owner Vera, who is 84 years old, had opened the front door and Baby escaped! Vera's daughter, Liz, posted missing pet alerts on Craig's List and also decided to call ELVH because she had been here before with her own pet. Luck was on Baby's side and Liz was told that she was safe with us! Liz called her mom, Vera, and told her Baby was found. Baby and Vera were soon reunited and this story has a Happy Ending!! A SIDE NOTE: Although this was a very happy ending to something that could have been devastating to the pet and it's owner, Baby was not microchipped! An animals chance of returning home are much less when they are not microchipped. Microchipping is an inexpensive, safe and minimally invasive procedure that proctects the animals we care for and love! Reuniting a lost member of the family is only a phone call away when they are microchipped. "Microchip your Pet" - A lost pet happens far too often. Give your pet the best chance for a happy homecoming. ELVH offers low cost microchipping for only $51.50. Help us help you and your lost pet get back together! |
