Visit us on-line to see photos and descriptions of the deserving creatures currently available for adoption. The following orphans arrived and/or were adopted during the last month:
New Arrivals
Yurtle, a red eared slider ( a type of turtle), was surrendered by his owner and has already been adopted by a doctor with East Lake Veterinary Hospital!
Licorice were three Schipperkee/Poodle puppies that were surrendered by their owner for financial reasons. Ebony and Kona have already been adopted, but Licorice is available for adoption now! Watch for her information coming soon at www.elpo.org, or stop by in person to say hello!
Ashley, a young grey kitty, was surrendered by her owner due to her high energy level being too much for his more sedentary lifestyle. She's available for adoption now, visit Ashley's page for more information!
K.C., a stray Fox Terrier, was transferred to another rescue organization where he was able to be reunited with his owner!
Gus, a Terrier Mix originally adopted as a puppy in 2003, was returned when his adoptive families' third child was born with special needs. We anticipate that he will be available for adoption within the next week.

May's Shining Stars
Our "2009 models" are our shining stars! These wonderful dogs and cats have been patiently waiting for homes since 2009. Through no fault of their own, they've seen their fellow orphans go to their forever homes while they continue to wait for that special someone to walk through the door. Will you be that special someone for a truly special pet? Adopt any 2009 adoptee (DOGS: Clint, Trixie; CATS: Marty, Vivian) for a record setting low adoption donation of just $20.09 (in honor of their being admitted in 2009) all through May 2010!

Penguin
May's Orphan of the Month!
This happy-go-lucky gal would love to play with you! She's tons of fun and always has a bright and happy disposition. Despite her playful and active personality, she likes her share of snuggle time with her favorite humans, too-she's a lap dog in a big dog body! She does well with other large dogs, and loves kids, but would prefer a home without cats or small breed dogs. Black and white, approximate date of birth 1/1/09.
s on-line or call us at 214-349-ELPO (3576) for more information on other wonderful animals for adoption! |

Volunteer of the Month April 2010
Our Volunteer of the Month for April 2010 was Carolina Leiva!
Our volunteer of the month is Carolina Leiva. Trainer Robin Terrell offers a training class offered at East Lake Veterinary Hospital and reserves a spot for an East Lake Pet Orphanage adopteed for each sesion. Carolina responded to our request to take a dog through this course and has showed up every week, instilling obedience skills in her canine student despite being a busy student herself! Though class just started two weeks ago, two of the three dogs that Carolina has worked with have already been adopted!
There's no denying it--volunteers make an amazing impact on the lives of the animals in our care. They provide comfort to the timid and injured, playtime for the energetic, and most importantly--unconditional love that some of these wonderful animals have never experienced before! For information on how you, too, can become a volunteer, visit us on-line or call us at 214-349-ELPO (3576). |
Our Supporters
A heartfelt thanks to our donors for the past month! Rest assured that each donation is greatly appreciated, and no donation is too large or too small. Hal
Hal at home |
"Hal is doing great! He doesn't enjoy his weekly brushes too much, but he sure LOVES to play with the string toy. His allergies are also getting better and some hair is growing back above his eyes... But he is ALWAYS hungry! Just like a dog; begging at the table for food and patting my lap to give him some (so hard resisting his pleas because of his gorgeous eyes). He sleeps with me now every day, and it's comforting to find him next to me during the night when I wake up. I am so lucky to have him! :)
