What Happens at the RCGI Gathering of Priestesses and Goddess Women?
This year will be RCGI's 15th Gathering of Priestesses and Goddess Women. In the last 14 years, women from as varied places as Canada and California, Australia and Arizona, Wales and West Virginia have attended the Gathering. The Gathering takes place in a wooded camp where even the hiking trails are accessible by wheel chair.
Women are welcomed in during an opening ritual on Friday evening that is followed by a trance dance. Saturday opens with breakfast and women trying to make the hard decisions about which workshops to attend. This years workshops will be: - Jade River -- Dianic Wicca: the Foundation and the Future
- Patricia Monaghan - The Sacred Table
- Sid Reger & Susan Grossman - The Craft of the Grandmothers
- Kim Duckett -- Words, Concepts, Consciousness: the Use of the Word "Feminine" in Women's & Goddess Spiritualities
- Kieara -- Masks of the Maiden
- Nano Boye Nagle -- Miraculous Manifesting
- Nancy Vedder-Shults -- Tapping Inner Wisdom with Your Chakras
- Gigi Vail - Passion in a Whisper
- Mary Jo Neitz -- Practicing Goddess Spirituality in a Changing Climate: Thinking About Tolerance, Diffusion, Identity & Organizations
- Peggy Patty & Phyllis Lau -- Manifest Your Intentions by Creating Your Personal Spirit Drum
- Laura Spring - Healing Ourselves and the Earth
- Drumming for Ritual
Lunch brings a chance to participate in a unique fundraiser by buying a hamburger or chicken burger to go with the usual lunch fare. After lunch, it's back to making a decision about workshops or maybe choosing to be part of a group practicing drumming for the evening ritual. After that, it's time for shopping in the craft market or maybe a nap. Dinner brings more friendship and then silence as we all prepare for the evening ritual.
The Saturday evening ritual is always poignant. Priestesses of the Goddess are ordained and confirmed at these rituals. RCG-I has ordained 34 Priestesses, each one ordained at a Priestess Gathering.
Sunday morning brings fresh cinnamon rolls at breakfast and more workshops. At lunch, there is an entertaining raffle with items both magical and whimsical. By the time of the closing ritual, it is often hard to leave. Friends both old and new gather to say good-bye until next year. We leave renewed and inspired as we return to our lives.
