The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life

The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art & Life is re-opening in Downtown Berkeley at 2121 Allston Way and officially welcomes the entire Berkeley community to come enjoy the new Magnes! The Magnes Open House Party starts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and includes free food and free admission to view the Magnes Collection and check out the new beautiful space. Exhibiting artists and Magnes staff will be on hand at the street festival-inspired event that will feature continuous musical performances by local bands and university choral and instrumental groups. Local restaurants will be serving up delicious eats and treats.

The INFUSION high-tech lunch features guest speaker Seymour Rubinstein, creator of WordStar, the first commercially successful word processor. Seymour will talk about his contributions to the first PC revolution -- including his introduction of the first end-user software licensing agreement -- and what he thinks is needed now to advance personal computing beyond its current boundaries.
