These enhanced services are being funded by the new Property-Based Business Improvement District (PBID) that was passed by 71% of property owners, weighted by assessment, last June. And all work is being done in close coordination with current services provided by the City of Berkeley and BOSS Clean Streets Program.
Over the next three month our Cleaning Team, under the leadership of our new Operations Manager Lance Gorée, will be deep cleaning and beatifying the entire 30 block area of Downtown Berkeley, including removal of all graffiti and gum stains, painting all furniture and fixtures, new landscaping
including new hanging flower baskets. This will be done in time for the
launch of full operations on April 2nd, including a revamped and expanded
Ambassador program, as well as a new brand and marketing strategy for the Downtown.
The current Host Ambassador Program will continue to provide hospitality and social service outreach services until March 31st, when the team will be expanded and combined with the new Cleaning Team, in time for the full
launch on April 2nd. Please continue to use the Ambassador dispatch number of 510.550.7550 if you need their assistance.
Stay tuned for regular updates on our progress. And if you have any questions or suggestions about the new Cleaning Team, and any of our current or future programs, please contact Operations Manger Lance Gorée at 510.5409.2230 ext. 13 or lgoree@downtownberkely.org; Operations Director Deborah Badhia at ext. 11 or dbadhia@downtownberkeley.org; or Executive Director John Caner at ext. 12 or jcaner@downtownberkeley.org.
