The Festival is a special one night event featuring short films by independent filmmakers in the Bay Area. The big screen event plays the backdrop to a haunted tv studio with a booming sound system, costume contests, raffles and prizes. These film festivals are known for being specular networking events to upcoming filmmakers and low budget film buffs alike!

Earth Island Institute's Streets Alive! Project, in collaboration with the City of Berkeley and UC Berkeley, will unveil the first three boxes of the project to put art on utility boxes in Downtown Berkeley!


Please join Earth Island Institute, Mayor Tom Bates, City of Berkeley Staff, the Downtown Berkeley Association, and Streets Alive! donors, volunteers and supporters for the press launch of Berkeley's newest public art installation. After the unveiling, the launch and press event will move to the Earth Island office for refreshments and more celebration!

The 60 boxes Project has brought together local artists and sponsors to transform 60 utility boxes in Downtown Berkeley with art created on the theme of sustainability. If you are interested to sponsor a box, contact Earth Island Institute at 510.859.9100.

Jack-O-Lantern Contest, Revival Bar + Restaurant
All participants receive a complimentary plate of charcuterie of their choice. 9pm judging by the kitchen and winners announced at 9:30pm. First prize is a $50 gift card/runner up $25 gift card!

The Bellavente Wind Quintet presents a family-friendly program of spooky and adventurous music. This special early program includes a costume parade, prizes, surprises, and -of course- candy!

BHS Spirit Week & Rally Day

Spirit Week: Monday, October 24- Friday, October 28

Rally Day: Friday October 28

During Berkeley High School Spirit Week, students dress up daily for theme days, culminating with Rally Day celebrations on Friday, October 28. 

 

During the week, campus monitors will continue to be posted at BHS entrance to check students for unauthorized and/or illegal substances. On Rally Day, the campus will be locked down after lunch until classes end at the normal time. The BHS administration advises Downtown Merchants to be especially vigilant in preventing underage alcohol sales to students, particularly on Friday. If merchants have concerns or problems next week, please call the Berkeley Police non-emergency number (510.981.5900) or the emergency number (510.981.5911) if they encounter problems with students.
