Free Outdoor Movies and Costume Contest
Saturday Nights in August on Center Street

In an online survey, Berkeleyans did a fantastic job of choosing their four favorite movies that will be shown during the CENTER STREET SUMMER CINEMA on August 6, 13, 20 & 27, which will be projected onto the wall in the Bank of America parking lot at 2219 Center St. Movie watching is free but seating in the Bank of America parking lot at 2219 Center St. is $5 for a rental chair or you may BYOC.

Each film will be preceded with a costume contest with thematic prizes at 7:30PM, MC'd by local dignitaries. So dig through your costume box and join the fun on Saturday evenings. Cartoons and shorts will round out the evenings.

  •   Aug 6 - wear your pirate costume to watch The Princess Bride
  •   Aug 13 - sport the goofiest bow tie or the most scout badges for UP
  •   Aug 20 - dust off your safari attire for Raiders of the Lost Ark
  •   Aug 27 - dress as your favorite character from The Big Lebowski

Dine al fresco starting at 6:00PM at restaurants serving caf style on Center Street, closed to traffic between Shattuck Avenue and Oxford Street while entertainers from the Downtown MusicFest serenade you with steel drums, violins, or Brazilian guitars. Ride your bike, walk, BART, or take AC Transit to the heart of Downtown.

These evenings are generously sponsored by the Downtown Berkeley Association, Bank of America, Eco-City Builders, Alborz Persian Restaurant, Sportivo Italian Restaurant, and media partner Berkeleyside.com. Additional sponsors include HDR Remodeling, Office of Council Member Jessie Arreguin, Office of Mayor Tom Bates, and UC Berkeley Community Relations

Center Street Summer Cinema is presented by the Downtown Berkeley Association, with production support by AnotherBullwinkelShow.com, 510-548-5335, where you may get more info, or find it at www.DowntownBerkeley.org.
