Downtown Berkeley's Facebook Contest - $50 prize!

Become a Friend of Downtown Berkeley on Facebook and you'll be eligible to win a $50 debit card. The winner will be chosen at random among our "Friends" on Facebook and awarded on June 30th.

The "Downtown Berkeley" page has a photo of a music festival on Addison Street. People are coming to the site; DBA doubled activity in May, and we want to double it again by the end of June to get our news out to more people.

Let us post YOUR news and promotions. Add Deborah Badhia to your email list today at "dbadhia@downtownberkeley.org".

Zoning Amendments for Outdoor Seating
On June 1st, the Berkeley Planning Commission approved Zoning Amendments for Outdoor Seating to help make it easier and cheaper for restaurants to put seating on the sidewalk. Thanks to the Planning Commission and to Alberto Malvestio, Almare Gelato, for speaking on behalf of the merchants. The City Council is expected to vote on this item on July 12th.

Storefront Art features three Berkeley artists
The DBA has installed Berkeley artists in windows near the BART Plaza.

- In the former ROSS site, Pheobe Ackley presents Elders in our Midst, oil on canvas portraits of elders from the Berkeley community.
- In the Harold Way Window, Lauren Meyer presents "quick paintings" vibrant acrylic one hour paintings reflecting a weekly dance class theme.
