Step Up. Speak Out. Stand Together. This is the theme of our 17th Annual Walk & Candlelight Vigil to be held on Sunday, October 28 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is MAAV's signature event, and though it's grown over the years to include music, exhibits and special guests, the purpose remains the same - to remember those who have lost their lives due to domestic violence, and to unite as a community in our resolve to prevent further tragedies. We hope you will join us.

Special Guest at 17th Annual Candlelight Vigil

Ms. Patrick

We are thrilled that Diane Patrick, First Lady of Massachusetts, will join us for this year's Candlelight Vigil. She is the recipient of our 2nd Annual Advocacy in Action Award, to be presented by last year's recipient, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.

Mrs. Patrick has worked tirelessly to end the problem of domestic violence in the Commonwealth. For her, the work is personal: She survived and managed to move on from an abusive first marriage. Today, she is married to Governor Deval Patrick, and has worked with families, agencies, and law enforcement to provide support for victims.

You can hear Mrs. Patrick speak at the 17th Annual Candlelight Vigil on October 28.

Help Us Meet Our Goal! Become a Community Sponsor of the Walk
MAAV's Annual Walk & Candleight Vigil serves as our biggest fundraiser of the year. The money we raise is used to provide education and violence prevention programs to community members of all ages, as well as outreach and support for victims of domestic violence. You too can be listed on the back of the Walk T-shirt! Check out our sponsorship levels and benefits, and the list of our generous sponsors to date. Contact us by Friday, October 5 to add your name to the list!

MAAV will bring the program to all 9th and 10th graders at Melrose High School on Oct. 9, with follow-up discussions led by our Student Action Board.

Presentation for Parents & Community members will be held on Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 pm at
