MVMMS AssemblyPeer Power: From Bystanders to Allies
MAAV was proud to participate in the Melrose Veteran Memorial Middle School's first-ever "Acts of Kindness Summit," a week-long series of presentations designed to prevent bullying and promote respect. MAAV Director Rebecca Mooney showed a PSA from Sweden and helped students brainstorm strategies for bystanders to become allies, such as distracting the bully, speaking up, telling a trusted adult, or befriending the target. MAAV Training Specialist Alice Wadley and members of the Student Action Board helped lead the assembly, with several students sharing personal stories of bullying where bystanders made a difference. Click here to learn more about MAAV's approach to bullying prevention. Contact us for more information about bullying prevention trainings for students, staff and parents.
