A film screening of "Daisy Bates: First Lady of Little Rock" and Dialogue with filmmaker Sharon La Cruise.
Daisy Bates was fearless in her quest for justice, taking leadership to bring national attention to civil rights issues. She became a household name in 1957 when she fought for the right of nine black students to attend the all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Today, Bates' contributions remain unrecognized outside of Arkansas - until now. Documentary film maker Sharon La Cruise spent seven years to discover and communicate Daisy Bates' contributions. Her documentary was aired this year on PBS and will be screened at IWL on September 13. Join us at 4:30. Click here for registration information.
