Transforming Lives Documentary Film "From the Inside Out: A Lifetime of Activism"

Bonnie Kerness |
IWL Leadership Scholar Beth Breslaw interviewed Bonnie Kerness, founder of the Prison Watch Project in the late 1970's. Kerness, a lifelong activist, is the current coordinator of the Healing and Transformative Justice Project in the American Friends Service. As part of the IWL Transforming Lives initiative, Beth produced a short documentary film based on the Kerness interview. Transforming Lives is conducted in partnership with Rutgers Writers House. Click here to view the 8-minute documentary film.

Beth Breslaw reflects on her documentary film about Bonnie Kerness:
"The story of her life is basically the story of a movement. I thought: why not tell her story, the story of a woman leader, while bringing visibility to the lives of all those she helped over 40 years? Bonnie feels strongly that women are the backbone of social movements." Click here and select Filmmaker's Statement. |
