IWL Students Present Films at

2011 Women's Worlds Conference in Ottawa

Ottawa Trip
Hera Mir, Sasha Taner, Lesley Pairol, Mary Trigg, Nancy Santucci, and Anna Zailik were featured speakers at a panel presentation in Ottawa, Canada.

Joining nearly 2000 scholars, policymakers, and activists from 92 countries, our Rutgers team of IWL Leadership Scholars, faculty, and staff participated in the historic 2011 Women's Worlds Conference in Ottawa in July.   In their panel presentation called "Transforming Lives: Documentary Films of Women Leading Social Change," students shared insights gained from interviewing women leaders and producing short documentaries about them.

In reflecting on the trip to Ottawa, Leadership Scholar Anna Zailik wrote, "Not only was this opportunity to present at a conference a personal accomplishment, but it was also an accomplishment for our university... 'Transforming Lives' is the perfect example of the groundbreaking work that happens at Rutgers and I was honored to present to a global audience. It truly exemplifies the "Jersey Roots, Global Reach" motto we proudly place with Rutgers. "  Click here to learn more about students' experiences at the Women's Worlds Conference in Ottawa.

The opportunity for students to participate in this global conference was made possible by support from the Rutgers Office of Undergraduate Education and the Mary S. Hartman Women's Leadership Opportunity Fund.
