New Year's Resolutions
Happy New Year! Did you make a new year's resolution this year? We hope it was to volunteer with Hands On Tokyo! Thanks to you, Hands On Tokyo completed a tremendous first year, and we have big plans for 2008. We are adding new weekly volunteer projects, launching a fundraising drive, planning special events and reaching out to the media to spread the message about volunteerism in Japan.  Whether you would like to volunteer several hours a week, or once every two months, we have projects where you can help make a difference in the Tokyo community.  And, no experience is necessary!  We orientate and train all of our volunteers so that you feel comfortable prior to any volunteer engagement.
Winter Volunteer Projects
We have 4 weekly volunteer projects from which to choose:
  • Sakurgawa Senior Home--1/21, 1/28, 2/18, 2/25 from 2:00-3:00
  • Second Harvest Food Pantry--Thursdays from 1:00-3:00
  • Special Olympics Basketball--2/10, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 4/6 from 1:00-3:00
  • New Project: Special Olympics Bowling--3/15, 3/20, 3/29, 4/12 from 10:00-12:00
Are you great at pulling together and managing a team? Then perhaps you would like to become a Project Coordinator. Project Coordinators (PCs) serve as important links between our volunteers and our partner organizations.  Having bilingual language capability is helpful, but not always required.

Do you know of a project that could use Hands On volunteers? Consider assisting the Hands On Tokyo board as a Volunteer Project Developer. Or, do you have good recruiting skills?  How about joining us as a Volunteer Recruiter to assist us  in recruiting new Japanese and foreign volunteers?
