February is all about matters of the heart. From Valentine's Day to National Go Red for Women Day, you can't get too far without tripping over great advice on how to care for your most vital organ.
This month we celebrate Heart Healthy Month by making it easy to be good to yourself and your loved ones. Be your own Valentine! We have 2-for-1 pricing on Pilates Duo Sessions and Hot Yoga classes so bring a friend in and work out together.

Heart Healthy Cooking Class
Keep your eyes out for Emily's Edibles this month as all of the tips and recipes will be focused on Heart Health. But, for those of you who crave more, join Emily in a Heart Healthy Cooking Class on Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm.
In this class, Emily will take you through one super Heart Healthy Meal - from beginning to end!
$35 per person (food included!)
$50 per couple/pair
Blood Drive
Every two seconds someone in the US needs blood, but only 5% of eligible donors actually donate. Be one of those good people on February 26th from 3-8 pm in the Group Exercise Room at Bristol Total Fitness. Remeber that the life you save might be your own.

In February, we will take two of our Pilates Group Circuit Classes and open them up to Beginners. Sign up and give it a try!

February Celebrates Heart Health Month
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for both men and women.
In 1999, the American Heart Association set a strategic goal of reducing the death rates from coronary heart disease and stroke, and reducing the risk factors for these diseases by 25 percent by 2010. The new CDC data notes early success in meeting the coronary heart disease death rate goal, and shows that success is near for the 25 percent reduction in stroke. However, American Heart Association president Dan Jones, M.D., said the victory could be short-lived if the risk factors that lead to heart disease and stroke are not also reduced.

Channel 10 Does Hot Yoga!
In January, EVOLUTION hosted Channel 10's Healthcheck reporter Barbara Morse Silva at a Hot Yoga class. The segment, which will air on Monday, February 18th during the 5:00 pm broadcast showcases our very own Geri Feldman and some of her students.
If you haven't tried Hot Yoga yet, take advantage of this month's promotion to give it a try. All Hot classes are 2-for-1 pricing for the month of February. That's just $12 for two people - or one punch on a 10-class card!

We encourage everyone to try a couple of Hot Yoga I classes first - the content is virtually the same, however the instructor provides greater support and explanation of postures and poses.

From the Pilates Studio
Early Morning Pilates
If you are one who likes to get your workouts in first think in the morning we've got the class for you. Pilates Express, a 50 min. Reformer based workout, at 7 am on Wednesdays. This class challenges your arms and legs with the Reformer work and then we take it to the mat to challenge your core. .
Wednesday mornings at 7 am
Bring it to the Mat
We are now offering Pilates Mat classes in Studio C. These mat based classes will take core training to the next level. During these classes we will also utilize small equipment such as stability balls, pilates rings, weighted balls, and bands to further challenge the body. If you are looking to change up your workouts or add in something to complement your Reformer or Yoga practice - this is it!
Come join Jen on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm & Fridays at 9:15 am
Pre-registration is not required for the Pilates Mat classes - Drop in fee is $12.
Reformer Focus Class: Slender Thighs!
This month's Reformer Focus classes will concentrate on the thighs. This class will give you a total body workout with an emphasis on the inner and outer thigh area. This class will work on toning and strengthening the thigh and hip area.
Reformer Focus Classes meet on Monday and Wednesday nights at 5:30 pm.

High Blood Pressure Reduced by Massage Therapy Hypertensive adults who received regular biweekly massage sessions experienced less depression and hostility and showed a decrease in measured stress-hormone levels, according to a recent research study.
The study titled "High blood pressure and associated symptoms were reduced by massage therapy" was completed in May 1999, and was conducted in conjunction with the Touch Research Institute, the University of Miami School of Medicine and Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
