Our dance workshop schedule from 9 am to 1 pm will end just in time to fully enjoy glacier viewing during the afternoon and evening.
For me writing of the Prince William Sound brings back many more Alaskan memories, from sleeping under the stars on a bed of moss under soaring spruce trees as the cruise ships went by, to heading out to sea on a navy landing craft vessel along with 1000 other boats upon a Tsunami warning while working on the 1989 oil spill. And most memorably, franticly throwing gear up higher on the beach upon discovering the kind of wave action a calving glacier can create.
Our visit to the Prince William Sound will be a nostalgic one for me and I look forward to sharing it with all of you while enjoying the music and dance that we all love.
There
are more than one dozen glaciers lining the College Fjord which got its
name from a party of scientists, naturalists, writers and artists who
combined scientific research with leisure activities on an expedition
In the summer of 1899, known as the Harriman Expedition party. These glaciers were named for the Ivy League schools
that members of the party attended. Read more about the Harriman Expedition and the glaciers of College Fjord. Then watch this video of a calving glacier.
