Greetings!

As I sit here on a clear, cold and sunny February day in Fairbanks, Alaska I can't help but imagine dancing RUEDA in front of the Mendenhall Glacier on a warm, sunny August day in Juneau, Alaska.

Juneau is a treasure and I hope to share a little bit of that with you here. I have uploaded pictures of Juneau on our Facebook Group and Event pages and on the Timba Cubana Yahoo Group.

Two important dates- Tomorrow, March 1,  the fee for our onboard workshops is due if you are already registered. On March 10 the complete deposit of $350 is due. Call or email Mary to make those payments.

Flight prices have been updated as of February 29. To book cruise or for assistance with flights call or email Mary or Victoria.

  Juneau - A Day to Explore - Day 3
Centennial Hall Juneau is a spectacularly beautiful city and a place that holds a special place in my heart because Felix and I have visited Juneau twice for Dance Festivals. Juneau has a great salsa scene and Juneau Dance Fest has invited you to join them for a dance party at Centennial Hall on the evening of August 16, 2008. Time and details will be announced in a future newsletter.

There is so much to do in Juneau that we are not scheduling any dance workshops for that day so that you can have the whole day free for fun and exploring!

There is plenty to do in Juneau for Free. Go to my What's Free in Juneau blog to find out more.

There are Four things that stand out to me as the best things to do in Juneau.

#1. The Mt. Robert's Tramway is located near the Ship's Dock. For $25 you will be swept to the top of Mt. Robert's for fine views of the Lynn Canal and Gastineau Chanel and lots of great hiking trails. The great thing about the Tramway is that the ticket is good for the entire day for multiple visits so if there is a great sunset you can hop back on for a breathtaking view. Tickets are available at the dock. They DO NOT need to be reserved in advance.

#2.The Mendenhall Glacier is a must see. It is located about 10
miles from downtown Juneau and is accessible by taking the Juneau City and Mendenhall Glacier Tour. Reserve this in advance with CanDoTours.

#3. Whalewatching - We would like to book an afternoon whalewatching tour for interested members of our group for less than the published fare on the website. I am still waiting to hear back from
Orca Enterprises about availability and price. Whale sightings are GUARANTEED! Stay tuned for more information.

#4. Glacier View Sea Kayaking is a fun way to combine kayaking and views of the glacier.  You will be transfered by bus to North Douglas Island for Scenic Views of the Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay where you will be begin your adventure.  You will be led in groups of five to six kayaks to places such as the Mendenhall Wetlands where you may have the opportunity to view the Mendenhall Glacier. Book this trip with CanDoTours.

Kids Can Come Too
Lynn CanalThe Carnival Spirit has lots of special activities for children. So when we are at sea your children will NOT be bored.

Camp Carnival is a year-round program for children ages 2-11 that includes a wide range of fun activities designed for three different age groups: Toddlers (2-5), Juniors (6-8) and Intermediates (9-11). All are supervised by staff who are either college educated in a related field or have professional child-care experience. As soon as children visit Camp Carnival, they'll meet the counselor assigned to their age group. While activities take place throughout the ship, smaller children enjoy many of thier fun events in the Camp Carnival headquarters where there are games, arts and crafts, and even their own outdoor wading pool.

Circle "C" welcomes 12-14's to cruise, chill, and connect. It's a program that keeps on growing. There are games, parties, and other supervised activities that are created just for them.

Club 02 sets the mood for teenager's ages 15-17. This special space blends friends, music, entertainment, sports and style for a teen-themed cruising experience unlike any other.

Carnival MAY STILL have rooms available for triples and quads. Please email Mary or Victoria if you have any questions about what is available for children OR the cost reduction that may be possible when 3 or 4 people share a room.

Victoria's favorite dance quote is: "Dance For Your Body and Soul". We can't wait to dance with all of you ALL OVER Juneau!!

Warm wishes from Victoria, Mary, Felix and the rest of the Havana in Alaska Team.
