 Spring 2008
Gilat Ben0Dor, Director of Renaissance Wine AcademyGreetings!

Happy Springtime!

Here in Phoenix, our 6 weeks of "winter" have vaporized, and it's time to put aside the osso buco and Cabernet in favor of fragrant Viognier and juicy Beaujolais-Villages.

Spring is all about renewal and new chapters, and indeed - the Renaissance Wine Academy is no exception! We are spreading wine education awareness all over the Greater Phoenix Area and beyond - including three appearances in Arizona Bride magazine's "Ask the Expert" column, as well as a column written about my Paris wine competition adventure in The Spirit World. Most recently, I worked with W Magazine from NYC and Women & Wine from California as the Sommelier at the Guess/Marciano boutique opening here in Scottsdale. Thank you to ALL of you who came out for that happening event!

On a professional development note, I have diligently been working on AusWISE , the Australian Wine Bureau's educator program and will be expanding our programs about the wines from Down Under.

One of our most important projects is the ongoing development of a course series to offer to the public, in addition to our private and corporate client events. Stay tuned for a supplemental edition to this newsletter, coming very soon, which will feature that calendar.

In the meantime, I will be guest speaking to these groups, open to anyone who registers.

And now, just sit back and enjoy our Spring-themed articles, tips, and announcements below...and remember, Spring is the perfect time to turn a new leaf and try a new wine!

Cheers!

With the  mild breezes and fragrant blooms arriving, it's time to pack away the heavy fireside sippers and reach for some refreshing choices whose bouquet is worthy of its own "vase" (a tulip glass, perhaps?). Click here to read the four ways to a drinkable garden of earthly delights.

Two events we are highlighting are Off the Rocks, a major wine-tasting event at Kazmierz Wine Bar on April 8, and Bubbles & Bliss, a special Chandon Champagne tasting held April 12. Tickets can be purchased via these links, and Off the Rocks can also be purchased here.

Here's the Charity portion: Proceeds from the festival benefit the Arts, thanks to the diligent volunteer efforts of The Scottsdale League for the Arts™, a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer organization of accomplished men and women who promote awareness of the arts through social and educational opportunities.
