Dear Missions Partner,
Kim and I are just returning from Nicaragua. We had the privilege of spending a week with our Board of Directors. The CCM Board traveled to the areas where Chosen Children Ministries (CCM) is actively ministering. They heard from our pastors and church leaders in the León, Juigalpa, and Masaya areas. The Board spoke at both Bible Institutes where CCM provides training for pastors and church leaders. In these unique Bible Institutes, Nicaragua pastors are trained by Nicaragua teachers along with visiting pastors from the United States.
We were all blessed to be a part of our 10 year celebration at the Casa Mephibosheth orphanage. Casa Mephibosheth was again recognized by the government as one of the top orphanages in Nicaragua. We are currently home to 30 children including 3 babies. James 1:27- Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of God our Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
Kim and I also worked with Carl Catoe's team from First Baptist Fort Mill. This team is always ready to help build as well as evangelize. It was a real blessing to spend the week with them. Joining CCM the same week was Lake Bowen Baptist Church and Hopewell Baptist Church. Thank you for praying, giving, and going. It is not too late to bring a team or join a team in 2012.
In Christ,
Wallace Nix

Last month, our team of 24 young adults from 4 different states and 8 different universities had the privilege of serving alongside Chosen Children Ministries (CCM). I don't think there is a one of us that left the same as we were when we got there. We worked in several different barrios and also got the special opportunities to spend a day at the Casa Mephibosheth orphanage and visit the dump. In the barrios we did VBS with the kids and door to door evangelism. We also got to build a house for a woman in Emmanuel. One of the barrios that we worked in was called SMP. It is a new community that CCM had never gone into before. We spent time going door to door and talking to the residents of the community about their needs and beliefs in order to help CCM identify how to best minister there.
We also got the privilege of meeting some of the leaders of the community and were encouraged to hear them talk about their hope for the people to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We are excited to see what the Lord does in SMP barrio. We were able to go love on the kids at the orphanage and take them to the zoo. The Lord used these precious orphans to teach us so much about who He is and the love that He has for us. That night when we were in the rancho sharing about our experiences, it was clear that we are likely the ones that were changed the most by that day.
We were also able to go to the dump for the first time ever. One of the men from our team shared the gospel and we got to spend a little bit of time with the people there. Realizing that there are people living in the same world as us that have to dig through the trash all day just to make a living truly broke our hearts, but the Lord is so good. We were able to share with them the HOPE that Heaven is real and it is near. What an unbelievable, undeserved honor to get to be the ambassadors of that message. Our prayer is that we would live with an urgency to speak it not only when we're on a mission trip, but every day of our lives to everyone that we possibly can. I don't think any of us will ever forget the week that we spent in Nicaragua and the way that God spoke to us there. Our lives have been truly changed.

Lake Bowen Baptist Church
Inman, SC
This was my first mission trip, and stepping 'out of my box' was a big leap of faith. We all saw how God can work through us during our week in Nicaragua. We had the task of tearing down an existing shed and then building a church from the ground up, complete with concrete floor and tin roof. There were doubts that we could complete this task in 5 days. This was the one of our smallest teams that has gone to Nicaragua in a while, but this is what we were given to do.
We had given ourselves a deadline and the last board was being nailed into place at the exact time that we needed it to be. Each day, we got to see God's hands in our work. Paired with another church, the work was completed at an awesome pace, and hearts were given to Christ with daily outreach to the local families. The community has a place to worship no matter what the weather may hold for them and we took home with us a piece of that church and the knowledge that we didn't accomplish the build on our own.

God showed up in a mighty way during the week. There is no other way to explain it. It was truly inspiring to see His work in the Parcel's barrio through preaching the Word, Men's Bible study, door-to-door evangelism, Vacation Bible School, helping with minor medical needs, praying with and discipling those in need, AND building a church (permanent structure) in less than a week! What a blessing it was to see the church filled with so many people on Friday where 7 people accepted the Lord at Pastor Francisco's invitation!!!
It was a privilege for our team to work with Lake Bowen Baptist Church from South Carolina during the week. What an awesome time spent serving our Lord together!
Many lives were reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in many different forms. One highlight was being able to show the movie Courageous to the congregation of the Parcel's barrio. On our last day in the Parcel's barrio, a beautiful rainbow appeared over the barrio. We believe God was telling us that He approved of what was done for Him.
Thanks to Chosen Children Ministries' staff for being obedient to God's call on their ministry. Our team's scripture for this week was Romans chapter 12. We saw these scriptures come to life in Nicaragua.
