FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Dear Members and Friends,
Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TACCI) had its General Assembly on March 16 and elected its new Board of Directors. A week after, the new board gave me the honor of becoming the new President of TACCI, by unanomous vote. Since its inception, I have served in TACCI at different positions, and I am very excited to continue as the President for the next 2 years.

TACCI's vision is establishing infrastructure and strategy necessary to increase and foster bilateral trade and investment opportunities between U.S. and Turkey. And since its establishment in 2002, TACCI has been one of the most important Turkish - American organizations in the US. Being aware of our responsibility, we have organized many events and brought thousands of distinguished people together, while providing benefits to our members. The trade and the investments between Turkey and USA, two giant allies in many other fields, are not at the desired level, yet. To ensure the growth in bilateral collaboration, every individual in this field should be aware of their strength and capability, and look for new connections that they can benefit from. That's why supporting local and nationwide chambers of commerce is extremely important, especially in today's market conditions. We are inviting all the businesses that have activities in the related field, to join our network, and benefit from the synergy between our members.

We would like to also announce that, we are happy to launch our monthly e-newsletter, which will serve as another way of keeping in touch with members and friends, sharing news and announcing our and their activities. TACCI is growing with the support of its members and its solution partners, and there's still a lot to do. I am happy to have the privilege to reach out to our network of 5000+ people through this column.

TACCI GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2010

TACCI held its Annual General Assembly and the bi-annual elections for a new Board of Directors, on March 16, 2010, at The Turkish Center in New York at 6 pm. The assembly elections were attended by the majority of the current TACCI members and by Vice Consul Mr. Basar Sen who also made the opening remarks. After the introduction of the agenda by Ms. Sevil Ozisik, and following the review of the previous term, the attending members voted for the new Board of Directors, Audit Committee and the Disciplinary Committee. According to its bylaws, 18 out of 20 members were elected based on the results of the voting process. The other two permanent members of the board are the Commercial Attache of Turkey in New York, and the US Representative of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB).

The newly-elected Board Members of Turkish - American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TACCI) gathered at the first board meeting after the General Assembly, and internally elected the new President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer and the Secretary General of TACCI. We would like to announce that, Mr. Celal Secilmis will be serving as the new President of TACCI, after his precessor Ms. Sevil Ozisik, who will also serve as a Vice President in the new board. The new TACCI Board of Directors will serve for a 2-year term and TACCI will continue its mission to contributing to increase and foster bilateral trade and investment opportunities between U.S. and Turkey with the support of its members.
