Yoga is Back

Yoga is back at the Y and is being taught by Linda Meeks, Certified Yoga Instructor.

Beginner Yoga, Level I

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

November 1 through December 1, no class November 8

This is a basic Yoga class. Invigorate the body while quieting the mind. This class is designed for students who are in good health but new to yoga, or prefer a less-rigorous class. Attention focuses on conscious breathing, mental clarity and reduced stress while gaining strength, flexibility and balance.

Mixed Level Yoga, Level I - II

Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

November 12 through December 3

This class is designed for Beginners and Intermediates to work side by side practicing solid fundamentals and the classic yoga asanas. Participants will begin to gain a deeper awareness of their body and develop higher levels of focus, strength, flexibility and endurance. The class will include some Vinyasa (flow) Yoga. Modifications will be introduced for some poses so that beginners can work comfortably at their own level.

Restorative/Stress Relief Yoga

Fridays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.

November 11 through December 2

This class starts with breathing techniques to promote relaxation. It includes very gentle stretching and movement as well as relaxing postures that are held for several minutes. The body is invited to release and let go while the mind is encouraged to be quiet and awake. Postures will be geared more towards the earth in seated or supine position. Float home and enjoy your evening. This class is open to all levels. No previous yoga experience or flexibility is required.
