DOWNTOWN TEENS
Youth in Government
Youth in Government is a national program of the YMCA, which involves thousands of teens nationwide in state organized model government programs. The purpose of Missouri YMCA Youth In Government is to prepare students for responsible leadership in the American democratic process by providing guidance, training and experience in the theory and practice of determining public policy. Here in Missouri, YMCA Youth & Government involves more than 800 teens from around the state in an effort to help them learn leadership skills, explore personal values and better understand the democratic process. The program provides a laboratory for student led activities. Any student in Missouri is eligible to participate.
Each year students come to Jefferson City and convene at the state capitol building for a model legislature and model Supreme Court. Students enroll at their prospective high schools and teacher advisors work with the YMCA Youth & Government program to ensure success. YMCA Youth & Government clubs meet throughout the school year.

FRESH MEANS LOCALLY GROWN!
These days, "fresh" seems to mean fresh off the truck from California, and "local" is anything east of the Rockies and west of the Atlantic. For us, fresh means that the produce we hand-picked at 7 in the morning is at your door by 7 in the evening. Furthermore, we grow only the best-tasting varieties, not commercial varieties bred to withstand machine harvesting, a 2000-mile journey in the back of a semi, and a 3-week shelf life. Our vegetables travel a mere 10 miles to reach your table the same day they are picked. This means they taste far better, and have far more nutrition, than anything you'll find in a store or restaurant.
Our commitment is to provide you with a selection of produce that varies from week to week, but your box will always be full to the brim with produce at the peak of its season.

Through the Strong Kids Financial Assistance program, Ozarks Regional YMCA awarded 1.3 million dollars in financial assistance to more than 5,000 people so they could participate in Prime Time before and after school child care, youth sports, swim lessons, Y memberships, gymnastics, Camp Wakonda, Arts Academy and other YMCA programs.
Camp Wakonda
Your summer adventure starts at Camp Wakonda. We offer week-long overnight camp experiences for grades 2nd -9th. The 2011 year will be an exciting year for camp Wakonda as we welcome our new pool facility and an improved program. Campers will learn about themselves, the environment, and gain new skills. They will build new friendships with both cabin mates and counselors. Camp Wakonda allows campers to experience God and the Y mission in a pristine outdoor environment where they feel close to God's perfect creation. They'll have a great time playing games, climbing on the tower, swimming in the pool, and just being kids. They will be challenged to think of how to become people of character and of course they will have tons of fun!
