6th Annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Festival
The 6th Annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Festival will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 in and around City Hall.
Activities during this family event include the Mayor's Christmas tree lighting ceremony, a neighborhood group Christmas tree decorating contest, entertainment by local school and community groups, the Mayor's reception, an appearance by Santa Claus, classic holiday movies in the commission chambers, and (weather permitting, of course) a hot air balloon night glow. In addition, over 1,200 goodie bags will be given away that night to children ranging from preschool to grade school age thanks to our many sponsors.
These events will be held on the First Floor of City Hall and outside along 7th Street.

America Recycles Day

Heartland Habitat for Humanity ReStore will mark America Recycles Day with its 3rd Annual Electronics Recycling Event Saturday, November 20 9am - 1pm (or until capacity is met) Heartland Habitat ReStore 520 S. 55th Street, KCK
Bring your old electronics in for free recycling. The event is for Greater Kansas City metropolitan area residents only. This event is for individuals, and is not valid for businesses, organizations, government or institutions. There is a maximum of eight items for recycling per car. Items accepted include:
Computers, printers, monitors, scanners, peripherals, old TV sets, old cell phones, DVD players, fax machines, personal copiers, stereos, radios, tape players, turn tables, PDAs, VCRs, cameras, game systems, and other electronic items.
Presented in partnership with Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (UNICOR); Unified Government of Wyandotte County/KCK; Operation Brightside Inc.; and Phi Theta Kappa at KCK Community College. For more information, call 913-596-6597 or 913-342-3047.

Reardon Parking Lot Changes
The parking lot south of Reardon and the Hilton Garden Inn is tentatively scheduled to be converted to paid parking on December 1st, 2010.
Paid Parking from 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Free parking in the evenings, weekends and holidays.
Pricing 0-1 hr. = $1 1-2 hr. = $2 2-4 hr. = $4 4-6 hr. = $6 6-8 hr. = $8 If doing business at BPU or the Hotel, FREE parking is available in the garage behind these facilities (drive way access located between these buildings off Minnesota.)
