March 2010 Downtown Update

March 2010
Eat Healthy in March for National Nutrition Month
Weight loss and wellness are not just about exercising. Healthy eating is a key part in meeting your fitness goals.  March is National Nutrition Month, so it's a perfect time to look at several ways to shed extra pounds by taking your goals outside the gym and into the kitchen.

Making smarter food choices can be as easy as substituting the usual for something new. Try some of the following:
  • Drink water instead of soda.
  • Eat yogurt instead of chips for a snack.
  • Choose low-fat foods.
  • Try to eat whole grain products.
  • Eat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream
Try these tips for 30 days and feel the difference. These foods combined with exercise will help you meet your fitness goals.

If you're looking for more help with your diet, try the YMCA metabolic assessments and weight management groups. These tools can help you with support, accountability and information to lose weight and gain wellness.  For more information contact your local YMCA.
