2012/2013 general slide
Greetings!

This past Saturday we closed Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and while we are sad to say goodbye to the cast and crew of this wonderful show, we couldn't be more thrilled with what a smashing success it was. We not only had fantastic reviews, but the show brought in amazing audiences. We would like to thank all of our enewsletter readers who came out to see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and we can't wait to see all of you next week at My Name is Rachel Corrie.

We are still taking submissions for Robin Hood: The Legendary Musical Comedy, the fourth show in our 2012/2013 season. We've included all the details in this month's newsletter.

In this edition, we take you behind the scenes of My Name is Rachel Corrie. Director Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu shares some of her thoughts on the upcoming production and we have some behind the scenes photos. In addition, we are running another ticket giveaway, this time for My Name is Rachel Corrie!

Small Slide

In March 2003, 23 year-old American student, Rachel Corrie, was crushed to death by an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer in the Gaza Strip while trying to stop the demolition of a Palestinian home. My Name is Rachel Corrie, the second show in our 2012/2013 season, is a passionate and stunning account of a girl who sought to discover the human impact of her own country's foreign policies on people thousands of miles from her home. Since its sold-out opening in 2005, My Name is Rachel Corrie has acted as a catalyst for discussion and continues to spark heated debate.

Presenting a controversial show like this one at an educational institution has provided us with opportunities for further discussion around the issues presented in the work. We have two exciting events that promise to do just that.

On Thursday, October 18th there will be a postshow talk back after the performance with members of the cast and creative team. All audience members at that evening's performance are encouraged to stay.

Director Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu will be part of a chat sponsored by the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies on Friday, October 19th at 1 PM. Taking place at the Robert Gill Theatre, Ms. Tindyebwa Otu will be joined by Assistant Professor Barry Freeman, a specialist on performance and globalization, for an informal discussion about making art out of politics and politics out of art in Canada. This event is free and open to the public.
