Greetings!

The theatre is buzzing this week with the first round of auditions for our 2012/2013 season! Director Matthew Gorman and our General Manager Doug Floyd have been seeing some of Toronto's most exciting talent. Stay tuned for the casting announcement of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead in the coming weeks.

In this issue we are catching up with our Artistic Director Jeremy Hutton, we continue with one of our newest features "Et Cetera" and we have a fantastic ticket giveaway for one lucky reader!

Happy Canada Day!
Where In The World Is Jeremy?
Artistic director Jeremy Hutton

Hart House Theatre's Jeremy Hutton is taking off for the summer and we thought our readers might be interested in hearing about what he's going to be up to over the summer.

Jeremy is returning to Halifax again this year to work on a collective-creation with Shakespeare By The Sea. He has been hard at work writing babershop style music for their family musical based on the classic Louis Carroll tale Alice In Wonderland. This production reunites Jeremy with director, and Shakespeare By The Sea Co-Artistic Director, Jesse MacLean with whom he last worked with on the collective-creation Robin Hood: The Legendary Musical.

CBC's Mainstreet did a fantastic interview with Jesse MacLean about Alice In Wonderland and it features some of the music written by Jeremy! The full interview can be heard online here.

Hart House Theatre is thrilled to be bringing Robin Hood: The Legendary Musical to Toronto this winter as part of our 2012/2013 season. We can't wait to share this hilarious musical comedy with you!

What's On At Hart House Theatre:

Hart House Theatre is proud to host the workshop presentation of Raindogs and we are thrilled to be offering our ENews subscribers an exclusive inviation to this normally behind-closed-doors creation process.

Presented by Theatre 20, in partnership with Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project, Raindogs is a moving and gritty look at the junkies, pushers, prostitutes and other misfits that inhabit an upper West Side greasy spoon.

On Stage Around Toronto:

Can't wait for our new season? Why not get out and see some of the great shows playing in and around Toronto this summer!

Toronto's largest theatre festival, featuring 150+ artistic creations, is almost upon us! The Toronto Fringe Festival kicks off its 12 day run on July 4th, 2012 and guarantees a show for everyone. It's also one of the most affordable ways to see theatre in Toronto; the maximum ticket price is $11 per show and FringeKids! plays are only $6!

The best part about The Toronto Fringe Festival? You may just catch the next big thing, like notable past Fringe shows The Drowsy Chaperone, Kim's Convenience, My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding and 'da Kink in My Hair.

A complete show listing can be found on The Toronto Fringe Festival website.

Make sure you plan to spend some time at The Fringe Club, which is abuzz with excitement from early afternoon until the wee hours of the morning. Visual artists hock their wares at the Fringe Artist Alley, local musicians showcase their talents on the Artist Alley Outdoor Stage (from 6pm to 7pm nightly), micro-plays bring tents and sheds to life as part of the AlleyPlays series, industry types argue "Theatre is dead...Long Live Theatre!" at the Tent Talks series, and drinks are on ice for you to enjoy after a long, hot day of theatre going. All events are free and you never know who you'll run into - including some Hart House Theatre staff, friends and alumni!

See you at the Fringe!

Pssst...
We're giving away a pair of VIP tickets to the Toronto Fringe Festival which runs from July 4 - 15, 2012 in downtown Toronto. Each VIP ticket provides admission to one show of your choice from the 155 productions! Tell us what show you most want to see at this year's Fringe and why on our Facebook page, and then send an e-mail to erika.rueter@utoronto.ca to confirm your submission (you must do both to be eligible to win). The best answer will win the tickets. We'll announce the lucky winner on our Facebook page on July 3rd, 2012, and contact them by e-mail with their tickets!
