2012/2013 general slide
Greetings!

Just as you are gearing up for summer time fun, we are busy getting ready for the start of our new season, which is fast approaching! We couldn't be more thrilled with how it is coming together and we know you are going to love our 2012/2013 season.

We are also thrilled to welcome a new staff member to our team. Erika Rueter is our Marketing and Publicity Coordinator for the season. She is the former General Manager of Talk Is Free Theatre in Barrie. Previously Erika spent four years working as the Marketing and Publicity Manager at STAF in Toronto. She has worked and volunteered at numerous arts organizations, led many marketing and publicity workshops within the arts community and is a contributor in the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts' publication, The Indie Theatre Producer's Guide.

In this issue we are catching up with one of our recent alumni and we have included two new features: Et Cetera will take a look at what's happening on other stages in Toronto and Pssst... will be filled with fun stuff, like ticket giveaways!

Happy June!
Where Are They Now?
Catching Up With Hart House Theatre's Alumni
Tyrone Savage

Tyrone Savage
For Hart House Theatre - Arcadia, Jerry Springer - The Opera

Do you ever wonder what has become of the people who have crossed Hart House Theatre's stage? Many of our alumni have gone on to do some pretty exciting things and we would like to shine a spotlight on their accomplishments.

Since Tyrone Savage's (Arcadia and Jerry Springer - The Opera) time with Hart House Theatre he has played such well-known roles as Romeo in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (Canopy Theatre, 2009), Sir Toby in Twelfth Night (Canopy Theatre, 2010), Howie in Red One Theatre's The Rookie and last season joined the prestigious ensemble at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival appearing in The Grapes of Wrath and The Homecoming.

This season, Tyrone returns to Stratford in the role of the gullible lover Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing, a role his father played 20 years ago at the Louisville Shakespeare Festival. Starring alongside heavy hitters Ben Carlson and Deborah Hay, the show has been recieivng fabulous reviews with Tyrone getting great mentions.

The Toronto native and theatre royality (his parents are five time Gemini winning actress Janet-Laine Green and Gemini winning actor Booth Savage) first captures the hearts of Canadians as Henry "Fat" Bailey in the Kevin Sullivan-produced CBC-TV series, Wind At My Back. He went on to appear in other popular television shows, including an episode of YTV's Goosebumps with his parents. The young actor is certainly making a name for himself in the Canadian theatre scene and we can't wait to see where he lands next!

J. Kelly Nestruck's review of Much Ado About Nothing can be found here. Richard Ouzounian's review for The Star can be found here.

The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?

On Stage Around Toronto:

Can't wait for our new season? Why not get out and see some of the great shows playing in and around Toronto this summer!

We recommend seeing ATIC Production's The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia? directed by Carter West, who will be directing Bent at Hart House Theatre this coming season.

Martin loves Stevie, his wife. Martin loves Billy, his son. Martin also loves Sylvia, a goat.

Edward Albee's Tony award winning play runs for a limited, one week run (June 19-24, 2012) at the Tarragon Extra Space and features Tim Walker (rencently seen in Hart House Theatre's The Night of the Iguana) as Martin, a successful architect with a dark secret about a peculiar mistress. The talented cast also includes Benjamin Blais (seen in Hart House Theatre's King Lear), Rosemary Doyle and Ben Hayward.

ATIC Prouctions is an award winning theatre company that works to foster independent theatre in Canada. More information about the company can be found on their website.
