January 2012 Happy New Year!
Wishing everyone a happy, prosperous, healthy NEW YEAR!
I am in a bit of a rush today (12/31/11) to get this newsletter completed and into the "send spool". I try to keep to the traditional Southern superstitions (actually I don't know from whence these came, I only know that I grew up with these practices in our home and don't really know what happens if they are not followed from year to year! --something to the tune of invoking bad luck.) of no work of any kind, no cooking (except for warming leftovers or pre-cooked meals), no cleaning and no sewing (mending) is to be done on New Years Day. And since I have on many occasions claimed this newsletter is a chore...back when I was so busy with my aromatherapy course...I thought I better get this done now and still be on time with sending it out. I also cleaned my entire house yesterday afternoon-evening with a vengeance so that I can start my new year out right. It is another tradition to have beans and rice on New Years Day. (not observing this one brings financial woes as best as I can recollect so I am determined to not make this situation any worse off than it already is!) This morning, I have a pot of black-eyed peas (and a small assortment of other beans) soaking. This evening, I will turn on the slow cooker, add the chopped onions, spices and diced cooked ham to the pot and let it cook all by itself over night...see I'm still not doing the cooking!
Happiness! White Dragon Therapies has a new home. The new location is 1512 NE 172nd Avenue. (just two minutes from the Halsey Street location) I am in the Snow Plaza II strip. If you are on Halsey and turn onto 172nd, I am in the center of the blue-grayish buildings about 700 feet from the corner. You may go to my website to the "About Beau and White Dragon Therapies" page and click on the DIRECTIONS link. I think I correctly and successfully updated the mapquest link. My mailing address and phone number will remain the same.
I will not actually be opened at this location until the middle of the month of January 2012. I encountered a few snafu's with scheduling, obtaining the remodel permits and my time to complete the priming and painting of the new walls after the contractor is finished. I will be sending out a special notice when I am actually and for really moved in and ready to do massage therapy at the new address. In the mean-time, I have permission to continue with providing massage therapy for you at the Halsey Street location until the middle of this month. ♥
NEW LOCATION UP-DATES: There are many changes I have had to make to my work environment. Some (at this time) are still in the making....the new location is not quite perfect yet. But I'm not going to point these issues out specifically. I just want to let you know that I' am working very hard to get the new place in a presentable state and have tried to keep a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel welcome right when you enter. Time to complete finishing touches was not afforded to me. Not to fear, it will soon all be completed. I hope to have an open house sometime in February. I am opened to do massage therapy and aromatherapy at my new place and will be glad to see all my clients book an appointment.
I will have two treatment rooms. Instead of calling them Room 1 and Room 2 (shades of Dr. Seusse with "Thing 1 and Thing 2) They are named Zinfandel and Pinot Noir. My massage room is Pinot Noir. Zinfandel is available to rent for another massage therapist or any other practitioner needing a place from which to work. If you know of anyone, please pass my phone number along to them.
Just click on the link below to watch the fun, listen to beautiful music and learn what I am offering as my special deal for the month of January.
There has been some additions and changes to my "Beau's Favorite Providers of Other Services" page on my website. I have added a list of Other Alternative Healthcare Professionals for your easy reference for those that are seeking these services.
I don't usually make new years resolutions but this year, I have a few things on a list. * My cats will not be the boss of me this year. The battle of the re-training saga is afoot! (I know exactly what most of all of ya'll are saying right about now..... All I say is I have the next 365 days to make my case! Stay tuned.)
* Establish my personal Alternative Healthcare regime and do not fail to see all my practitioners once a month. It is important to take preventative care of myself so that I can do Granny one -or eleven - better! (see announcements below)
* This move into a new facility is and has been ultimately sobering to every aspect of my being. Yes, I am one step closer to my dream of a wellness center. Never-the-less, it is quite scary making this change during an economy that is less than inspiring. I do so cherish my friends that are quick to sooth my fears, encourage my continued progress forward and lend that extra hand to help me accomplish whatever I am freaking out over. (yes, I do freak out sometimes!) So this resolution is in regards to my "letting go" of the anxiety that so many people are telling me is self-inflicted and to SGO for emailing to me a letter of inspiration when I was feeling discouraged. Thank you. I will strive to abide your advice and "Never, never, never give up. ~ Winston Churchill"

Aromatherapy (essential oils treatments)
I alwa ys have Raindrop Treatments available. These are good for more than just keeping the cold and flu germs in check. The Original Raindrop Treatment is excellent for exhaustion, fatigue, feeling blue or a little run-down and have been proven to be an excellent pre-surgery treatment. Original Raindrop Treatment the day before a scheduled surgery will help you with the post surgery recovery, you will not be nausious from the anesthesia (you'll have actually taken less of this than expected) your pain after the surgery will be less, your healing time will be faster. So, by all means, do treat yourself to feeling great!
Boost your immune system this month! Book an appointment to come get an Original Raindrop Technique Aromatherapy session or a regular massage with a Raindrop Add-on! For colds and flu try an Original Raindrop Technique aromatherapy massage. Schedule your appt. to come in for an Original Raindrop Technique massage or just ask to have your already scheduled massage up-graded with an O.RT add-on! I promise....you will be feeling 100% better by the morning after this O.RT and on your way to being completely well.
I do wish to post a reminder here that if you are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms a few days before or the day of your scheduled massage, please call me and let me know. I would very much prefer that you stay home and get well rather than exposing healthy people to the virus.... Unless, of course you wish to request a Raindrop Treatment (RT) add -on to your massage! This is an excellent way to naturally boost your immune system for prevention of colds and flu. Raindrop Treatments have also been advantageous in helping to reduce symptoms and duration of colds and flu after you already catch them. (personal experience: the next day, you are all well! --no more suffering for weeks and weeks!)
NOTE: If you have a fever, it is recommended that you reschedule your massage appt. Wait for your fever to pass and then come in for your Raindrop Treatment.
I will also be diffusing air purifying essential oils in the massage room for all of our protection.
I have available, the Young Living explanation of Raindrop Therapy at websites: WhiteDragonTherapies and EssentialEverydayOils . If you are interested, I have a Raindrop Therapy Disclosure Packet available for your ease of reference that lists all the essential oils used, why they are used and what other additional health benefits they may provide along with any contraindications for these oils. My goal is helping you get healthy and stay healthy!

Beau's Massage Articles:
Massage Therapy for a Healthier Life
By Beau Miakinkoff, LMT, LMP, CA, IAC
Most Americans resort to a visit to the doctor when pain, injury, stress over-load, and illness interrupt their everyday lives. I'd like to make reference to how massage therapy on a regular basis (even as little as just once or twice a month) can make a significant difference in the quality of a daily routine.
The body knows when it is injured, stressed, suffering pain, sick, unable to function at normal or optimal levels. It is our brain that tends to shut out these discomforts because we ignore the subtle signals. We tend to shrug off the little ache, the tiny twinge. It grows to a stiff muscle and progresses to limited range of motion. It isn't until we are experiencing actual pain upon trying to move our bodies and limbs that we take notice and are forced to seek attention to resolve the discomfort.
Massage therapy is the most natural and effective method of assisting the human body to restore itself. Swedish relaxation, hot stone deep tissue healing, therapeutic focus, aromatherapy, essential oils treatments are some of the techniques that I offer in my practice. I have full descriptions of all my massage therapies on my website: http://portland-massage-therapy.net/ (AKA: whitedragontherapies.com.) Massage therapy of any kind has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects are cumulative, meaning the more often you receive them, the better you will feel and the more quickly your body and mind will respond.

P.S. This newsletter is a monthly promotional featuring the current special I might be offering, letting you know about any new services or products being offered, and making announcements of anything new at White Dragon Therapies. I also like to feature news about current health issues. This E- newsletter is usually sent out on the first of each month. Although, there has been the rare occasion where I send out a special second newsletter during the month. This newsletter is not the same as my more often "e-blast" where additional massage discounts and specials of the week or other announcements are featured.
If you do not wish to receive these newsletters, please use the "safe unsubscribe" feature at the bottom of this page. I am paying to use Constant Contact to help me provide and deliver this newsletter to you. Constant Contact is permission only based email. I respect and value your privacy and I ask that you please do not click the spam button on your computer to discontinue receiving these newsletters. If I get too many spam notices on my account, Constant Contact will discontinue my membership. I thank you for your co-operation in this very serious matter.
