To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
In order to transition through the seasons of life, we must learn to recognize when one season is ending and another is beginning. Most people move to a new season before the time is right.
Psalm 37:23 says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he deligteth in his way." Your journey through life takes place one step, or one season at a time. No matter how much you may want winter to be over and spring to arrive, spring arrives in its own time. There's an appointed season for flowers to bloom, and there's an appointed time for you to burst forth into the fullness of your life. But it is as God directs -in His time and season.
Most people try to get head of God, and when they do, they mess things up. While they may have something to show for their efforts, they don't receive what they would have received if they had waited for the proper time.
While you are waiting for the seasons to change, learn to flourish in the current season. Most people have a problem flourishing in their current season because they don't want to be there!
If you are going to be successful in life, you must learn how to be content in God in whatever state or condition you're in. I'm not talking about accepting sickness or disease or anything you've been redeemed from. I'm not talking about resigning yourself to to the thought that you're going to live under adverse circumstances for the rest of your life. I'm taliking about finding your rest and contentment in God and trusting Him whoelheartedly in any and every circumstance or season of life.
The Apostle Paul teaches us about contentment in Philippians 4:11 -12, "Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want."
Are you willing to change with the seasons? Are you willing to alter your plan if God's plan is different from yours? Are you content right now-in today's season?
I encourage you to be content in each season and to patiently wait for God to move you to the next. Then be willing to move to that next season when God says move. In the meantime, you can prepare yourself for the next season and take whatever actions your current season demands.
Change is inevitable. What you do during seasons of change is up to you. You must learn to redeem the time and to take advantage of each season "Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.Ephesians 5:16".
To redeem the time means to make the most of every moment. How can you do that? Make the most of your days by knowing God's Word and acting on it, and by hearing and obeying the voice of the Spirit.
Determine each day to redeem the time -to make the most of each moment and to make preparations that will propel you into the next season of life. Take advantage of the unique opprotunities that each season offers, always preparing for a still greater season that lies ahead.
