How Great is Our God!
Manassero Family
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

In love
He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will-
to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
 that He lavished on us.
With all wisdom and understanding,
He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ,
to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment -to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people,
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is the same as the mighty strength
He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed Him to be Head over everything for the church,
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.

Ephesians Chapter One

What can we say more than that?

In Christ in Haiti,

2nd Annual Celebration Dinners a Smash!

King's Harbor FolksThe 2nd Annual Haiti Celebration Dinners were blessed events where, once again, God was glorified and attendees were able to see the amazing work God is doing in Haiti through Child Hope.

This year, there were two dinner events, one in Santa Barbara and one in Long Beach, to allow more people to participate.

Prior to eaJewelry Displaych dinner, attendees were able to browse through lobby areas featuring displays of products for sale made by the children in Child Hope's Transition Program businesses.

This year, Ariana Manassero and Sam Taubl (an intern teaching music at Child Hope in Haiti) led worship  songs before each dinner.

 Ariana Manassero

Attendees were moved and blessed by keynote speakers, including Kathy Ireland, Ariana Manassero and Bill & Susette Manassero.  Each speaker shared their personal experiences in Haiti, working with Child Hope.

 Dinner Videos

Three special videos were also presented at each dinner highlighting recent activities, programs and accomplishments at Child Hope.  Of particular interest was a video featuring the children at MDL.  All three videos are now available for viewing at the Child Hope web site

Brittany and Jessica being crazy The dinner events have become an important part of Child Hope's efforts to thank supporters and corporately celebrate the amazing work the Lord has done in Haiti.  Next year, there is discussion that the dinners may possibly expand to include a dinner location on the East Coast.

Markenson Ready for AfricaMarkenson

MarcKenson Olibris, one of our former MDL boys, and our first MDL Boys Home graduate, is ready to begin an intensive Bible study/missionary training program at Calvary Chapel Bible Training Center in Ghana, West Africa. This unique program is run by a man named Gary Grace who uses the school to train itinerant African preachers and sends them out to the mission field. Ranch Church in Santa Barbara is sponsoring MarcKenson's participation in the African ministry school just as soon as we can get him over there.

We received a visa from Ghana but when he went to get on his flight to Africa the airlines said he couldn't go because the plane stopped in Miami and he didn't have a U.S. transit visa.  That was nearly three weeks ago and we have been trying to get him a visa ever since.

MarcKenson, who was featured in CNNs documentary Rescued, came to Child Hope as a street boy, graduated from our boys home and got a full-time job as MDL's guest house caretaker.  He has faithfully served in that position for the last three years. In the afternoons, after work, he was a student in a one-year, through-the-Bible course at the Haiti Bible Training Center in Port-au-Prince, not far from MDL. The unique program was developed by Brian McDaniels of Calvary Chapel  Costa Mesa and founder of Cross to Light ministry.   Students in the program are hand-picked from a group of serious ministry-minded Haitian young men with a heart for the Gospel and full-time ministry. Visiting pastors from around the world volunteer to teach students in the program and take them through the entire Bible in the course of a year.

MarcKenson's heart is to return to Haiti after the training program, and move back to his village in Northern Haiti where he will share the Gospel with that highly voodoo-influenced community as a full-time missionary.

Please join us in covering MacKenson with prayer, that he gets his visa and so he can launch forward in this next important step in his dream and calling to "proclaim the Gospel to the nations."

Manassero Kids Update
It has been a while since we featured the latest on the latest happening in the Manassero kids' life.  Here is a brief overview of some of the recent events in the lives of the Manassero Kids:
Ari's Girls
Ari's Girls - (l to r) Jefflina, Daphne, Estaline, Adnaika, Katrina and Cindy

Ariana - When teams visit, one of the things many visitors can never get enough of is playing with the little girls at the girls home. The little girls are not only incredibly cute but very entertaining. That is never a problem for Ariana, however, because she is their "mama" every day.  Ari lives in the girls home and is the primary caregiver or "nanny" for the little girls. Whether taking a walk or getting an ice cream at the nearby food joint, Ari looks like a mother hen with all her little chickies wherever they go.
Vienna with QC Junior Class doing Community Service
Vienna - School keeps Vienna very busy but one of the events she  loves most is when she joins with classmates for community service projects.  You'd think with all the activities at Maison de Lumiere that she would grow weary of "service projects" but she has a heart for Haitian children wherever they are.

Phil and Elijah for Yellow Belt Elijah - Since Tae-Kwon-Do lessons are not the easiest things to pursue in Haiti, Elijah is blessed to have his dojo (teacher) come and conduct lessons right here in Haiti.  Phil Toomey, who serves on the Child Hope Board of Directors, also just happens to be a 4th degree Tae Kwon Do black belt and frequent visitor to Haiti.  When he's here, Elijah is flaing about like Chuck Norris spending multiple hours in intense training sessions to progress in his knowledge and skill level in the martial arts.
 Frankie's 12th Birthday
Francesca - Frankie recently had her 12th birthday and she wanted to have a pool party.  We don't have a pool so we found the next best thing -- the Karibe Hotel, where they provided an all-day pool party and lunch.  She invited a bunch of her friends from school as well as best friends Katrina and Oline.  They had a blast!

KensonFor those who know him,
Kenson's 2nd grade class
Can you find Kenson?
Kenson is quite a character.  He is "Mister Personality Plus." In fact, most people that meet him think he should have his own sitcom.  So, needless to say, Kenson says and does some pretty funny things.  The latest came from his 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Rutz (whom, by the way, he absolutely adores).  She was hosting a tea for all the moms of her students.  So. before the moms got there, Kenson felt compelled to warn the kids.  "As you may know, i'm black.  Well when you meet my mom don't be surprised when you see her because, well, she's white...  just in case you were wondering."
Teams Update
Two different Covenant churches, Hillcrest Covenant from Prairie Village, Kansas (right below) and Sanctuary Covenant from Sacramento, California (left below) visited Child Hope Haiti, at different times in the last three months, and made indelible impacts on the children, community and the staff of MDL.

Sanctuary Covenant Team Hillcrest Covenant Team

The  Hillcrest Covenant Team tackled a variety of projects while in Haiti, including painting, sports with the kids and various construction/repair jobs.  Sanctuary Covenant latched on to a little-known (by most Americans) Haitian holiday, Haitian Flag Day, which the MDL School celebrates. They have made the event an annual tradition.  Each year, the team tries to help the school grow the event, which now includes a marching band, flags and T-Shirts, a military sync marching team and cupcakes.  A video clip from the event is located  here
