Manassero Family
As most all of you know, this has been a challenging period for us.  With the advent of Susette's cancer, we have had to shift direction for a season and direct our efforts at the new challenge before us.

We are grateful, first off, that we have a Savior who loves us and provides us all we need (Jehovah Jireh).  And through this ordeal, it's our strength and comfort that we have a God who wants to heal us (Jehovah Rophe).

We stand on His promises and pray knowing that it is His will that Susette be healed.  Please join us in this prayer of faith.

We are blessed that the Lord privided an awesome family to step in for us in Haiti.  This lifts a tremendous burden.  The Hojara family are amazing Spirit-filled Christians who are committed to continuing God's work at Maison de Lumiere.  Please join us in lifting them up for God's protection, mercy and wisdom.  Thank you, Jesus, for the Hojaras!

We thank all of you for your prayers and continued support of the children at MDL and our family.

God bless you.

In Christ (but temporarily not in Haiti),

About Us
Daphne Meet Daphne
Our newest little blessing to MDL is a sweet, precious tiny flower named Daphne.  She has captured the hearts of all our staff and more than a few visitors to the Maison de Lumiere girls home.  Big-eyed and strong-willed, Daphne came into MDL with a definite will to survive.  Her tough exterior and determined attitude seem inconsistent with her small stature but this is Haiti -- and this is survival.  If a child can't be tough here they usually won't survive.

Both of her parents died recently and she was staying with an aunt that already has six
children.  The aunt took her in but was struggling to feed her when she could barely feed her own.  Judging from Daphne's size, we doubt she received much food during her earliest developmental stages.

The aunt lives in an unfinished cider block shell where her children sleep on dirt floors.  There were also strong hints that voodoo was being practiced at the home.

After much prayer, we took Daphne in to become our 15th girl at the girls home.

She is one year old and weighs only 12 pounds.  She looks like a little baby but when you interface with her, you can tell she is definitely older than she appears.  Although we are trying to "fatten her up," it is clear much of her early development is already established.  We are praying that with good nutrition and a proper diet that she will start to develop normally.

Daphne is a very special little girl that is blossoming at Maison de Lumiere.  The other girls love her and love to care for her.  The staff (our nannies) are always holding her and giving her positive attention.  There's no shortage of love.

Please keep Daphne in your prayers and pray that she will grow into a godly young woman who seeks to love the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength.  Also pray that the Lord will get Daphne the sponsors she needs.
Ten and Lisa Hojara Welcome to the Hojara Family
While we are in the States for Susette's treatment, we have been blessed by God to have fellow servants Ted & Lisa Hojara, and their two children, Caleb and Charmaine, step in for us to help run the orphanage.

We have known the Hojaras for a number of years and couldn't believe it when they said they were willing to step in for us for the next six months or so.

We first met the Hojaras through our pastor and friend John McHoul.  They have worked with the McHoul's ministry and another ministry, World Harvest, in Haiti, for many years.

They know our ministry very well and love the kids -- and the kids love them.  These two Spirited-filled believers are going to be an absolute blessing for the children at MDL.  They have a big heart for the children of Haiti and especially the children at Maison de Lumiere.

Please keep them in your prayers as they take on this big challenge and seek the Lord's guidance as they pour the love of Christ into the children of Haiti.
Susette with T-Bo Susette Update Blog
A new blog has been set up for those who want to check up on Susette's condition and progress and to know what to pray for regarding her chemotherapy treatment.  The blog is at http://susetteupdate.blogspot.com.

Please continue to pray hard for God's healing hand upon Susette and for our entire family as they seek to draw close to the Lord through this challenge.

One awesome and beautiful thing is that the children and staff at MDL are committed to daily prayer for Susette.  Here is a picture we recently received from Ariana showing one of those prayer times on top of oMDL Hilltop Worship & Prayerne of our favorite hilltop worship places.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying and encouraging us.  Our words cannot adequately express our appreciation.

God bless you.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
      He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
