It can be daunting when someone says, "Tell me your life story."
When was the last time someone sat quietly with you for hours and just listened to you? Without judgement? Without giving you advice?
Telling your life story is a very rewarding and healing experience.
When I interview seniors like your mom or dad, my job is to help them remember their lives, to recall the joy, the people, and the stories of who they were back in the good ol' days.
A few questions and a couple of memory joggers and they will tell me about their childhood, their parents and siblings, and growing up to become your mom and dad!
But the only time I'm sad about interviews is when people wait until it's too late before contacting me.
I hate to tell you this: Illness or injury can silence any one of us too quickly and it's more likely the older we get.
