It's my mission.
When I was a younger man - I think I was 35 - I spent a lot of time in men's talking circles. These are healing groups where men talk about their problems and create new plans for themselves.
I remember an elder asking me a question that I absolutely hated. After I had moaned on for a while that I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, he asked, "What's your mission?"
At first, I had no idea what he was talking about. But he explained to me that I had to decide what my purpose on this planet was going to be.
After some deep self-discovery and support and challenging from a few good men, I realized that my mission is to help other people communicate love and passion.
That's what drives me to produce life story films and family history books...helping other people say who they are.
And when one of my friends offers the planet their love and passion in the form of a valuable service or product, I'm one of the first guys to get up on roof and tell the world about them!
When I interview my clients for a life story film or storybook, I always ask, "What's your mission?"
