The Passing of
Perry Scott
One of my very first life story interviews was with Jim MacNabb more than a decade ago. He was dying of pancreatic cancer and only had a few months to live. I felt honoured to record his life story and be able to help his family always remember him. He passed away a few weeks after I delivered his video to him. His wife and children told me later they were grateful to still have him on film, talking to them, smiling and laughing.
It was through interviewing Jim I knew I had found my life's calling. When I am interviewing people and compiling their life story, family history, and their old photos into a video or storybook, I know in my heart that I am in the right place, doing the right thing, for all the right reasons.
Since Jim, I underwent hospice training and have interviewed dozens of people. With each person I listen without judgement, without giving advice and with active curiosity. My goal is always to understand and reflect at the deepest level who each person is, what they are made of, what's in their heart, and what makes them unique and special.
Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing a young man by the name of Perry Scott - six weeks before he passed away. It was the first time we would meet, and the last.

During our time together, Perry was bravely struggling with the pain of cancer. But he was still intently focused on what he loved best to do: helping others by building custom bikes for them.
