Excerpt from a Video Interview

Eleanore Mitchell

One Hour with Eleonore Mitchell [Excerpt]

She's a mom, she's a daughter, and at 77 years old, she is still an active and contributing member of our  community. Eleanore Mitchell also happens to be charming and well spoken.

That's how she won a One Hour Video Interview with Cory Bretz from Heirloom Films. Senior Link, a Richmond organization that provides support and referrals to resources for seniors held their annual Christmas lunch last December. As part of the festivities, everyone was invited to tell a fun or heartwarming story about Christmas. Eleanore grabbed the microphone and with her story won the loudest round of applause - and a one hour video interview!

In preparation for her interview she was given a Life Story Questionnaire. When video biographer and personal historian Cory Bretz showed up to interview her, she was ready to go and told a good portion of her story. It was stored on DVD disc and she received copies to give her children and grandchildren.

Thanks Eleonore!

I figure I've got only 10 years left to interview the generation born between 1920 and 1930. Then they'll be gone.

They are your grandmothers and grandfathers, grand uncles and aunties. They're between 80 and 90 years old. They are unique and rare.

They spent their childhood in the Great Depression. During World War II they were in their 20s and probably served their country in some way or were on the "Home Front". They might have met during the war and got married while one was on leave from training or an overseas posting.

TV hadn't been invented when they were kids so their minds haven't been as warped by advertisers as yours and mine.

Your grandma and grandpa's knowledge, experience, and values are rare and getting rarer every day.

Would it be valuable for your family to have your grandparents interviewed on video?
